Since dozens of you have PMd me for my thoughts, I thought I'd better put them out here, lest the bigfooty servers crash.

While I do believe there was considerable fraud in this election - every 3 letter agency despises Trump, it's not a huge leap - by now I just wish Trump would concede for the sake of the country.

But like with muh Russians (Mueller) and muh Ukrainians (impeachment), I hope the Republicans regroup and investigate the s**t out of this election after the fact, along with Joe and his family vacuuming up bribes across the entire northern hemisphere.

RNC have lost the Whitehouse for the next 4 years, I hope they can put someone up in 2024 who is not a crazy religious warmonger, but is a more polished version of Trump: anti war, small government, but big military (as a deterrent.)

There, I said it. Peace be with you all.

2016:

2020
THE RIGHT: RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
THE LEFT: Look, let's talk
THE RIGHT: REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

she’s asking people to keep receipts. Using past statements from people against them is politics 101. Somehow you’ve jumped to purges, talk about jumping the shark.

I didn't take her statement to mean her political opposition in house, I took her meaning to be anyone who showed support for the wrong candidate.

Or was she simply advocating for cancel culture to extend to voting?

Wait a minute, maybe you were right all along.

Here's the smoking gun

That's a very favorable self assessment there. My perception is heavily distorted by most of the political discussion I see being here where there is significantly more outspoken people on the left side and I have seen far more cheering and, let's call it, digging up to rub faces in things from that side.

It's not an at of socialism to record your political opposition, but when socialists do it they have historically made people disappear.

I think it was quite clear what you were implying.

I'll keep saying it, spending cuts don't poll well.

Conservatives by ideology want lower taxes, less spending and less regulation. Smaller government.
That's just outright ridiculous. Every time they're in Government they increase spending.

Yes, they want lower taxes, but mostly they want less progressive taxes.

I'll even agree that they like to do away with regulation.

But there is zero evidence that they're for less spending or smaller Government. Increasing the number of soldiers by 2 for every 1 social worker lost is still bigger government. It's just something they tell people they're doing when they've never actually done it.

If you believe that they do, then you're believing outright lies.

That's rubbish m8, your own posts are a perfect guide. Where was the "look, let's talk"!?

You keep missing the point. They are in the game to be elected. That doesn't happen when you cut spending. Not while there is a party in opposition who will promise more spending.

Go back to the example of Abbott trying to cut spending. Why didn't that pass?

Just for contrast please give us your thumbnail sketch of what non-conservatives by ideology want.
I promise I wont laugh.

Sincere apologies. Thank you.
I thought you were mocking it. My mistake.

I would never, I'm well known around BigFooty for being lovable.

1) My case seems paradoxical or contradictory to nigh all here
2) Trump has to go , but I maintain he has to fight with all resources at his disposal ...
3) he has to go , but don't go quietly into the nights , contest at every avenue , come in as bull and bully , DO NOT LEAVE as yellow-belly milquetoast coward , leave as you came in. That's al I wish , don't change , go back on a David Letterman special , be a star in a net Easton Ellis sequel , don't change
1) I think that while they add character and colour, your linguistic flourishes obscure what you're trying to say.
2) Yes, he can fight, but he can NOT begin with "The Election was rigged/ it's a fraud/ it was stolen" which presupposes what is yet to be proved (or not) ie he begs the question (philosophically, not literally).
"Can fight"? Sure. "Has to fight"?? Not so sure.
3) I see what you mean. Trump is probably doing us all a favour by being such a petulant and churlish w@nker, ie being himself to the bitter end which will hopefully discourage voters from choosing him again, in any way, for any position. Your comment reminded me of the final sentence of Camus' "The Stranger".

Liberals want for everyone to live in a high standard of living that doesn't drive people to a life of crime out of desperation, has all children educated and everyone with access to medical services so they don't die from preventable causes.

I probably am confusing something, the socialist nations I can think of all have authoritarian governments. I actually don't think you can have socialism without the power of the state enforcing it.
That's a bit simple.
Many aspects of our country are 'socialist', this includes Medicare, public education, ADF, police and all kinds of services the government provides for our well being. These are are all socialist in nature, so part of economy is clearly socialist. Do we 'disappear' people?
Are the Democratic Socialist governments that have been in power in Western Europe off and on socialist? Do they 'disappear' people?
Is the PRC socialist? They do make people disappear, but they are on an ultra nationalistic trip laced with Han purity that makes them much like the Nazis. Speaking of which, are the Nazis socialist? They certainly made millions of people disappear. The name after all was officially the National Socialist German Workers' Party.

So it's a really loaded word and one which has had many meanings over the last hundred years. I thought Bernie Sanders might rehab the word in the US but I think he has failed. Many equate it with Communism which is wrong.
