In other news, a win would give Novak yet another hard court grand slam victory. ;)
Big five setter today will hurt Nolé's chances against Nadal I suspect. He needs a quick start because the longer it goes, the less chance he has against him.

Fitness is hardly ever the issue with these top guys. The amount of times Novak has come back from a 5-setter and played well the next match is crazy. Can only think of the one match that took everything out of him - against Del Po at Wimby. Other than that, it's like he enjoys the huge challenge.

Definitely, but Nadal is more than capable of grinding him down, and the fact that Djokovic played 5 to Nadal's 3 really helps his chances. I don't think it'll be a huge factor but I think that Novak really needs a quick start.

Nadal has never, in their 36 meetings, given Djokovic a grinding on hard courts. Heck, the only grinding came at Monte Carlo (clay) in 2012 where Nadal won 6-3 6-1. Should be yet another hard fought contest, even if it goes five sets, I'll still back the Djoker.

I don't mean a grinding as in grind him to a halt, just that he can make Nolé tired much more quickly than Djokovic can make Rafa. The epic AO final a few years ago was a great example of this, but Djokovic's ridiculous fighting spirit saw him come out on top. I expect Djokovic to win as you do, I'm just saying that his best chance will be to come out of the blocks firing. Things will get nervous if it pushes past four hours imo.

Yeah, he usually does come out firing against Nadal. If he plays like he did at Monte Carlo this year, Rafa will struggle to keep up with him. Hard to play like that for a best of five sets though. :/

Nadal has not lost a match on hard courts this season, he has been dominant since his return. He is 59-3 on this season, with one of those losses in his first tournament back.

He is the favourite according to the odds. But I put money on Djokovic before the tournament started so I will be backing him.

Hope the womens final is a good one tomorrow morning, think it will go to 3 sets.

Nadal starting to make his move now towards the GOAT mantle with Fed in the twilight in his career

Nadal is playing amazing tennis this year. To finish the year at number 1 after that injury - Id want him playing tennis for my life before anyone else at the moment

Whens he going to go pro?

The Kok and Kyrgios hopefully setting a good foundation for Australian tennis in the future

Nadal hasn't been playing that amazing, mostly the other top guys haven't been showing up. Maybe he will win tomorrow but I still reckon he hasn't got Djokovic figured out.

Players like Ferrer, Del Potro, Djokovic, Federer and Tsonga are all either out of form or have shown patches of brilliance, but just haven't been their usual selves this season. Nadal has taken complete advantage after coming back fresh from injury.
