Great chance for Sam Querry to strengthen his chances to take the 8th spot in the Race to London.

I try not to come on this board, as I like to go home and watch the replays without knowing who has won. I haven't followed scores since day one. I'm happy that Sharpie is out. Fed looked in awesome form beating Lopez in straight sets.

Ha, i got 7/8 tips right. Only one wrong was CSN. Kvitova and Sam looked good. what a weird day. I never tip correctly. :)

Sam has to be the fav to make it to the final. Not sure he will. Think Busta/Diego will give him a different test and Anderson could be a long one.

Kvitova was ON!!!!!. scary. She has looked good all week. The WTA will have 4 different winners in Grand Slams. If Venus doesn't make the final, we would have 7 different finalists. Sevastova hasn't made a semi yet, so that streak has a good chance to continue. You still have Svitolina, Brady Kasatkina, and Kaia Kanepi(who plays Dasha) on the other side.

Pulling for Svitolina, who would be a worthy winner, but Kvitova and Pliskova when in-form are devastating players. I also have a soft spot for Sevastova & Kanepi, and the three Americans are all capable of a deep run. Great times ahead!

I think Anderson and PCB are both capable of making the final and tend to be reliable performers (cannot envision Schwartzman in a slam final, even with the low difficulty factor in getting there now), but Querrey would have to be the marginal favourite at the moment.

Rapt for Rublev!

Women's draw stronger than the men's again.

Not sure if anyone can challenge Roger or rafa, but in women's it's still wide open for the winner. Personally hoping kvitova can win

Kohlschreiber why?

Sharapova gone

Just need Federer out and the US Open becomes much more salivating.

I know what you mean. If only we could get away from losers li

The fact that it is more open does not make it stronger.

The men's draw has the two greatest players of all time vying for the opportunity to play each other. Without them the likes of Del Potro and Thiem would serve up an very open but infinitely weaker draw as the girls are doing.

In 30 years time kids will say "wow the privilege they had to see Federer V Nadal." It'll be like Celtics V Lakers with Bird and Magic or like Bradman facing Larwood. It'll be remembered as epic and historical. Enjoy while we can.

At the moment, women's side has some depth especially with Petra back on tour.

You are confusing depth with openness.

Take Nadal and Federer out of the mens draw and it would be wide open and unpredictable as we see with Thiem V Del Potro.

Would it however be stronger? Have greater depth? Would removing 34 slams add depth?

By way of comparison if we removed the Cavaliers and Warriors from the NBA finals would they have greater strength or depth or would they just be more open and unpredictable?
