Harsh but true.

She had a break up vs Ostapenko in Wimby and just had to serve out the set to go to a 3rd. She whiffed and then lost the TB and the match.

In the FO, (as we all know) she had an almighty choke vs Halep. Up a double break in the 2nd set and 2 chances to serve out the match and dropped both serves. She then lost the TB and then lost 6-0 in the 3rd

I still wonder how she got to number 4. She's solid, but jeez you'd want her to be at least a double break up serving a match out. Her serve is absolute cannon fodder.

I want to defend Svitolina from Parker but I just can't. The problem is that she doesn't step up. She did well in the 2nd set because she attacked the 2nd serve. She just stays somewhat consistent. She makes an error and then she reverts to being consistent. Against Keys and Ostapenko, that is a killer move as they, when on, hit the ball out of the park. Even Halep outhit Svitolina when the match was on the line.

PS. HOW GOOD IS DEL POTRO!!!! How good is he for world tennis. I think I read somewhere that he is the 2nd biggest sports star behind Messi in Argentina. This was before the Davis Cup heroics. That atmosphere was something you only get in South American normally. He is such a gentleman and a star. Bad luck Theim. I like you but Nothing to my love of the gentle giant.

What a great match and comeback. Best in the men's by a country mile. heck, probably the best mens match in the last 2 grand slams.

Del Potro seems to have this endless repertoire of Jesus moments. A perennially heroic customer, a career full of flares of inspiration accentuated by despairing lows. I've written his career off at least twice now.

Really sad for Svitolina. Has had a supreme season otherwise no.1 worthy, but those French Open and USO losses are just crushing.
