Rafa was simply amazing after the first set. The dude is certainly up there with roger. How privileged we are to have 2 of the best ever at the same time, not even mentioning novak who has been stunning for the last 5 years (forgetting this season).

Get across the line now Rafa.

Can't help but wonder if that last set in January is going to potentially cost him the record though. It would be 18-16 right now if he won it, potentially 18-17 after Monday morning.

IMO one more non-French removes any potential argument you could mount to say he is too clay-centric to be the best ever.

You win 3 US, 2 Wimbledon and an AO, that alone makes you a great of the game. Add in a lazy 10 French and you're vying with Federer even before you address the head to head imbalance.

To think if he'd won that last set Rafa would be the only man in the Open Era to win all four Slams at least twice- which would also be massive

Nadal to be the first player to 20 grand slams in the mens id say

Yep. The race is back on.

No chance.

The planets have aligned for Rafa at the US but when he wins he will only have 16.

He is not going to win 4 more French Opens and he is not winning another slam off clay.

People have said that for years, you'll eventually be correct but never say never :p

Does anyone give Anderson a chance,

As for the women's final , I'm going with Keys
Can't see Anderson taking a set off Rafa.
Predicting a 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 type scoreline.

Going with Keys as well. Terrific run by Stephens at this slam but think it will end now.

btw Hingis vultured another GS Mixed Doubles title (7)

I went with Stephens. She going to counter keys pace. But it going to be a close one.

I read someone who said keys record against counter punchers is not crash hot. Don't know personally but I liked the sound of it.

Also don't really like Keys style of play. Too inconsistent.

And that's how it was in the first set. Too many errors from Keys.

Just a great set of tennis by Sloane. Just consistent, varied play and it has worked so far. Very composed.

In before 6-0 in the 2nd like the last semi.
I meant keys going 6-0, not the other way round.

The discussion will be about how bad keys played, bagelled (or breadstick or whatever happens) in the final. But Stephens has played amazing. Just forced Keys to try too much. Keys has been Keys. And it has just snowballed. The games Keys has won has been due to the serve. In general play, it has been a bloodbath.

Every point for keys is tough work. For someone like Keys that is GG.

Well done Stephens. That was perfect. As good as someone has played all year. Just dismantled your friend mentally, physically and tactically. Just perfect.

If I wasn't on my phone, I would post a clapping gif. Just wonderful.
