Have read that 11 players are deemed to have had close contact with Benoit Paire. They are all still allowed to play in the tournament. I'm thinking that number of players is too high to not allow them to play the tournament.

If Sevastova was playing as she did in previous years, where she has done deep in this slam, I would disagree.Gauff should be favourite have had a decent go on that one

but she isnt, so I would have Gauff as well.
think she is a social media influencer nowadays. posts a lot on twitter, mostly bagging out Yastremska. What's happened to Dasha? Is she going to play at US Open?
Honestly, I don't miss watching her play tennisthink she is a social media influencer nowadays. posts a lot on twitter, mostly bagging out Yastremska.
But seriously, I think she is recovering from 2019. Both Injury and hunger. So much so, I think she posted that she prefers 2020 than last year. planning to come back soon
What time do the matches begin AU time??If you have Foxtel, you can use watchESPN to pick and choose any court to watch.
ESPN normally would show ESPN's feed on ESPN and Aussies on ESPN2 but because of so many american sports on atm it's pretty much going to be the ESPN feed on ESPN2. Looking forward to the early mornings.
I'm going to lay Djokevic in this one. Yes he won the lead up, but only a few days between that and this tournament. I just think across the 5 set matches its so hard to maintain that consistent level without dropping one. I was really impressed with Raonic as my outside smokey, he could go deep and challenge. This is the best chance for either Thiem, Zverev, Medvedev or Tsitsipas to break through. I'll have a crack at Medvedev winning.

Ridiculously easy quarter for Novak to ease into the tournament. Kyle Edmund would probably be the most likely player to beat him which says it all.
Yeh thats a soft start.View attachment 949860

Isner hasn't won a set against him in the last 5 years.
Gauff losing round 1 is a big suprise and a huge disappointment for the tournament.
As soon as I saw Scwartzman's opponent I knew he was in trouble too.
Sharma just took the second set off Yastremska
I'm over Serena but like Gauff. I think Gauff would have been good for the tournament and the hype, impressive youngsters and changing of the guard is exciting. She's much, much better than a 1st round exit player but obviously just wasn't good enough today.Praise the lord one less annoying American.
Now hopefully Serena loses

difficult match up against a seed. Sevastova is a crafty player, a rare commodity. You have to have a weakness as a 16-year-old.I'm over Serena but like Gauff. Sevastova has only won 2 matches this year. One against Serena, the other just then
you sounded a lot more confident last night. looking at the scores alone, it was a match which could have gone either way. I am more disappointed we are not going to see Gauff v Marta Kostyuk. Would have been a huge highlight. She's a nightmare opponent as she moves fairly well, her weakness is she goes to water too often, but this is a great result. She has a good draw as well. She's one of those "upset winners" that wouldn't be so shocking. Plays well at the US Open every year

Rybakina got a good win. You think she could be very dangerous if she continues her pre-lockdown form.
