Not at all. The fed would not get suspended. Farce and laughable.
Stupid and ignorant comment. The rules have been applied very consistently for decades - if you hit a ball in anger and it strikes an official, you get disqualified. That has been that case since at least 1995, when Tim Henman got disqualified at Wimbledon. Probably longer, that’s just the earliest example I can remember.

Djokovic has been toying with this situation for years. He regularly slams balls or throws racquets with little regard for ballkids, linespersons or spectators. See this interview from the ATP finals a few years ago:

It was inevitable he was eventually going to hit someone.

Want to seethe a bit harder, Feddyboy?

Federer won the vast bulk of his grand slams from 2003-2009. His main competition through that period? Guys like Roddick, Hewitt, Nalbandian, Safin...
Once Nadal started hitting his strides, he was good enough to beat peak Feddy on his favorite surface; grass. Literally Rafa's worst surface too.
Djokovic meanwhile hit his strides in what is probably the greatest era of players tennis has ever seen, and that's where he won the bulk of his slams. Not against crabs like Hewitt or Baghdatis, but guys like Murray, Nadal and Wawrinka who, had they played in the era from 10 years earlier, would've absolutely won several slams.

That's beside the point though. You say Djokovic won't catch your boy Feddy, which is a rather funny coping mechanism. He's had moments of frustration several times throughout his career, that's never stopped him from bouncing back. He'll still gazump Federer with ease assuming Covid doesn't ruin things next year.
Ok whose alt is this? Fess up.

Shapovalov nearly took the umpire's eye out. He had surgery & was very lucky not to have any permanent damage. I think Shap was only 17 at the time.

It was stupid, fair penalty.

He didn’t mean it think we can forgive for one minor indiscretion. Has apologised to all parties.
Agree. Had to go, despite the accidental nature.

A few people commenting on the response of the line judge and it does look a little over-exaggerated. But she was an older women, and was probably shocked by the impact.

Don't think it matters, young or old. Any violation towards line judges should be an automatic default. It's why the Serena thing was a joke she should have been defaulted. If anything she's got off easy at the US.

I think maybe what i was saying didn’t come across right. I agree he had to go.

But I was meaning the line judge’s own reaction. Some were saying she really put it on i.e Paplely style ;-). There did apear a little bit of that, but she was also elderly and her reaction is not unreasonable from that view IMO.

Yep 100% agree and this comes from a huge Novak fan. He made an error, he was apologetic to all but you can't bend rules. He was just being a cranky you know what as he'd butchered 10 break points or whatever it was! If anything it's a good thing as it shows that no one is above the rules.

karma is a

you live by the sword, you die by the sword. regardless, I am a bit annoyed that the bookies are counting a default, a loss. Doesn't seem right. But rules are rules...

I can say that I called Shelby Rogers beating Kvitova. Kvitova should be disappointed. had 4 MP's, served a DF on one of those then had a shocking 2 points and lost the match. The American girls are super strong. Think only Azarenka and Osaka can stand up to them.

yeah. was the most disgraceful incident by a lot of people who should have known better.

Denis, I have things to do.

If anything Serena got off lightly. Not condoning it but at least Novak went off and checked in the lines person! The last lines person that went against Serena she wanted to shove a ball down her throat!

that was the first one v Henin(?). Either way, It was against one of the Belgium players.

the 2nd was against Stosur where the umpire called her for disrupting the player after an early come on.

the one I am talking about is the 3rd one, where a lot of people accused Carlos of sexism and all those things ending with m, when he was just doing his job when her coach got called out for coaching.

geech, she has done a lot

INTENTIONALLY? Okay any beginner to tennis would see that was accidental and not intentional. One or two metres either side of her, it’s a warning. That statement contradicted itself .
He intentionally hit the ball in a dangerous or reckless manner.

I think everyone would agree he didn’t intend to hit the woman. But that is not the point.

Djoker fanboys defending that....lol. If that was Fed they would be all over him for it.

I dont even follow tennis. Sure , he lost his cool and is wrong for doing what he did, but that was a total overreaction on her behalf. Her actiing took her off court and in turn the rule came into effect. If she bounced straight up, held up her hand the crowd would have clapped and cheered..he woulda said sorry..maybe kissed her on the head like old mate did awhile back to the young girl and the match would have continued.

The intention is in reference to hitting the ball.

Reckless in not caring or being careful to ensure nobody could get hurt.

Ha. So let’s fine or default those that intentionally smash their racquets. That’s dangerous and or reckless. It was a silly silly thing to do. But like I said, he should’ve hit it into the empty stand or just at the net.
