Are we forgetting about Gonzalez here????
For sure, I'm just assuming Nadal will win.

Before all the people come in here and start bagging me for that post, think about it. They knew the forecast was bad and yet they still play a doubles and mixed doubles match on Ashe when a men's QF is still to be played. I have no problems with the women's doubles match staying put as it featured the Williams sisters and Serena needed to play to freshen up for her SF. However the mixed is where I have issues. You're telling me they couldn't put it on Armstrong, or even Grandstand? Pathetic.

US Open all about money and TV ratings. Don't care about the players.

It depends on how long the match lasts tomorrow. The warmer weather may actually help his abdominal injury/strain/whatever it is. If Rafa wins easily, then I wouldn't think his chances are shot at all. The guy's a mule. (And I mean that in the most adoring way possible.)

Arthur Ashe Stadium needs a roof ASAP.

Not the USTA. Remember last year? When they refused to start the second mens semifinal early on Armstrong because of ratings. It ended up screwing with the schedule. Murray had to play three days in a row.

By the way don't you guys worry about Rafa... he's a freak. Remember Aus Open 09?

They have a sold out session for the night, no way in hell they will move that night match to the day, unfair for the fans. Although, there should never be a night session there in the first place, I don't mind Super Saturday but they have to make sure that they don't have to play 3 days in a row because of weather (2003 was an extreme situation).

100% chance of rain tonight and then 70% for Saturday's play. Luckily they have no night session to deal with so they have all the time in the world tonight. But this will be an odd weekend, hopefully Nine won't screw around with coverage, who am I kidding, of course they will. they thought it was ok to start the men's final 7 games intot the match last year.

It's hardly impossible. He could win the TB and cruise the 3rd today, then destroy Del Potro. And we all know his GS edge over Federer.

It's hard to see him win if they both go to gruelling 5 setters, but Novak could well test Roger.

Not saying lump on, but saying it is impossible and that he should be 10+ at this stage is insanity.

England more advanced than the US

Australia was years ahead of both

ridiculous than it's friday and a MEN'S quarter final is allowed to still be in progress.

Can't believe Arthur Ashe doesn't even have a drainage system so they can cover the courts.
My bias could be getting in the way, but after being the unwanted red headed step child of the grand slams, the Australian Open >>> US, In every single way.

I don't understand why they don't have covers, surely that would save up time drying the courts?

I don't want a roof, not only is it impractable to build one, the stadium is too big, don't think it'll look right either.

The US Open has always been a joke.

Inclement weather or not, the event is still a farce.

I actually woke up at 4am to catch the womens semifinal. I hate the USTA. The weather forecast also says there will be patches of rain on Saturday too. What are they going to do if the Sat schedule gets rained out again? Not a happy fan!

Finally some play...but the men won't be on for too much longer as Gonzo hands the tiebreak to Nadal on a platter.

So am I right in saying Nadal finished his match quickly, and is going to be playing his semi-final later on in the same day? and would this mean if he makes the final, it'll be the very next day?

What a joke where a top ranked MENS player could play a QF, SF and GF in just over 24 hours...

What? His semis is on Sunday and now the final is on Monday, think you're confused

Nadal is first up on Arthur Ashe stadium tomorrow. This is an absolute disgrace how USTA handled rafa over the years.Federer always gets preferential scheduling.I was listening to greg rusedski on euro sport, funny he brought this point up that how rafa always plays the most number of night matches here.

Isn't it better to play first up? Gives him more time to rest before the final. Also less chance of rain delays dragging it out. Federer requested to play earlier. Are you blaming Rafa's failure to win a US Open to date on biased scheduling?

Yep, that's why Rafa preferred it himself, he wanted to play first up. Total Power just coming up with another silly excuse. Rafa will be alright, considering how quick his match this morning.

funny you say so now cause the gonzo match lasted only half an hour. What if it went to a distance, would you give a chance to go all the way even if he beats juan martin tomorrow?

But TP, Rafa is the one that wants to play first up tomorrow. Im unsure exactly at what point he said that, but he has, and he has got what he wanted. The scheduling was shit in regards to the weather, they really need a roof IMO on Ashe and probably Armstrong as well... but thats what happens sometimes...

FWIW I think JMDP will beat Rafa in 4 and Fed will win his semi, then Fed wins another grand slam in 3 easy sets vs JMDP...
