Surely Anisimova can improve on her 6-0, 6-0 loss to Swiatek from the Wimbledon Final?

It's hard to see how you can give her a chance based on that thumping, but stranger things have happened. She's playing really well at the moment in front of the home crowd.

Does anyone give Anisimova a chance?

No chance to win, but a bloody good turn around for her since then. Thought it might take her a while to get back on track, but she's done it straight away. Good for her.

Fritz v Djokovic takes me back to the time when they played at AO and the crowd was getting on Novak’s nerves then as it was Covid the crowd had to leave at 12am as there was a lockdown going to take place, after that Novak won that match. Hopefully this time seems Fritz is playing at home in US the crowd get behind him and they get on Novak’s nerves and he conquers this time around.

I'll give a prize to someone who can provide me with the correct answer here.

When was the last time all eight fourth round matches at ANY Grand Slam tournament were decided in straight sets (Best of five sets)?

I'm asking because it almost happened this tournament. It looks like Sinner is about to win in straight sets which will mean seven of the eight 4th round matches were decided 3-0. The other one went to four sets.

The don't answer is it's ever happened since the open era in 1968.

Fritz not taking his (more than ample) chances. Djokovic gets the break and could kill him off here. Booooo.

It's been a pretty close match, 68 points to 62 in favour of Djokovic.

I think in about ten years time we'll look back and truly appreciate the head to head matches between Djoker and Alcaraz/Sinner.

Similar to how we look back at Roger getting Pete at the latter stages of Pete's career.

One great era ending, another one in its early stages.

As such, bring on Carlos v Novak.

Do you think it'll go to 4 or 5 sets? I don't think anybody is going to tip Joker to win, although he'll be a small chance, he did beat Carlos last time in a GS.

That's presuming there's no epic comeback in this one.

I'll tip Djoker to at least get one set. He has a 5-3 winning record against Carlos and as you said he won their previous meeting which was at the Aus Open.

Carlos in four would be my tip.

Now if you asked whether I think a Carlos win in straight sets is more likely than a Djoker win, that's too close to call. I'd rate both of those a 35% chance.

Wow, Fritz wins three rallies in a row to hopefully get himself out of danger. He has saved two match points. The chances of winning three long rallies against Djoker are very low, but Fritz did it at the most crucial of times.

Yuk, Djoker wins due to a double fault.

For the 7th time Djoker has made it through to all four Grand Slam SFs in a calendar year. To put that in perspective, I haven't even made one Grand Slam SF. Neither has ADM.

Interestingly, Djokovic was the youngest also to make all GS quarters in a calendar year until Sinner did it yesterday, so if beats Musetti tomorrow he'll beat that record too.
