Even if we were to assume Australians won't be adversely affected, it is clear that some (many) Americans would be hugely disadvantaged by Trump back in power. Just as one example, if you were living on social security in the US, whether or not you perceive it, you are likely to be significantly worse off under Trump. I would expect any Australians living on social security would (1) thank f*** that they don't live in the US, and (2) at least have some empathy for their US counterparts, via an understanding of negativity towards Trump rather than flippantly dismissing it.

My interest is only in 'why the obsession'. The doomsday stuff was all covered 8 years ago. Didn't eventuate. If Trump died tomorrow, who gives a ****? The football team barracking will just move on to the next candidate and then the next and the next. Again, I get the disdain, I don't understand the obsession.

I think you mis-characterise it as obsession, with perhaps a very small number of exceptions. People join the discussion here for different reasons. In my case, no facebook or twitter, so it's my main online discussion point.

Indeed, if you get the disdain, then it's disingenuous to characterise it as obsession as most people are genuinely voicing disdain and it's only on repeat because he gives us more to disdain every week.

I can unironically say that I respect Biden, and have a personal dislike for Trump.
I'm also able to give reasons and explanations based on facts to support my opinions on both.


Why can't the Trump stans do the same?
Why do they always have to hide it behind "Kek, I just like watching lefties melt! Why are they always talking about Trump?!?".
While ignoring the literal cult following Trump has across the world.

Trump positioned the USA clearly at odds with China, with a Trade war and tariffs on Chinese goods, leaving Australia squarely in the middle of this shitfight like a child between two warring parents.

We sided with the Seppos on calls for an enquiry into COVID-19 origins, the South China sea debate (including sailing warships through waters claimed by China). The Chinese responded by imposing tariffs on Australian goods and services (agricultural products like wine and beef, and a total ban on Coal), a campaign of cyberwarfare, arresting a few Australian citizens and imposing the death penalty on at least one of them, and upping its espionage and propaganda campaign against us.

The above image was released by the Chinese Ambassador to Australia, and promulgated online by Chinese bots via social media.

Our entire economy is driven by mining, agriculture, tourism and housing. In 3 of those 4 areas, China is the leading contributor of money.

A Trump administration in the USA adversely impacts Australia on those grounds alone, and that's before we get to the possibility the Chinese go '**** it' and invade Taiwan.

Im just weirded out that you've missed the massive trade war (and shit fight) between Australia and China.

They literally engaged in a massive cyberwarfare campaign against us, banned Coal exports and severely limited Wine and Beef exports, arrested and imprisoned our citizens, while slagging us off at every opportunity.

The whole thing has only just cooled off a bit.

No, they released a statement saying the laptop story reeks of a Russian disinfo campaign.

Which it did. And it still does, regardless of the fact the laptop itself actually exists. And notwithstanding the fact that most of the commentary around the laptops 'contents' are Russian disinfo.

What is this statement 'evidence of' exactly to you?

A legit story got censored and in the aftermath we got a bunch of "russian disinfo" claims. Claims that you are still parroting 4 years later. It is evidence you are cooked, you're a victim of the psy-ops you keep banging on about. Do you also still believe Iraq had WMD's?
 
The laptop story is that for a brief moment a couple of articles weren't available on Twitter and Facebook.

That's it.

If there was anything on the laptop worth talking about, the contents would be the story.
But as there was nothing but H.Biden nudes on it, the only story is 'censorship'.

How many people genuinely bought into the fake stuff? You can probably find a bunch of Twitter accounts that claimed the exaggerated stuff but most people were just like "Hey this bloke is filming himself smoking crack and knocking back cans in $70k rehabs and pointing pistols around, banging street hookers etc, and a lot of people are in jail for less... does this really need to be censored? Is it kinda suspicious that a hundred year old newspaper and a press sec have been deplatformed due to sharing a factually correct story?"

It was rather Orwellian: "The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

It's fine to just admit you were duped on this one rather than trying to save face by saying "well 0.0001% of folks said it had pedo stuff and there's no evidence of that so checkmate russian stooges."
