Just like Trump, Biden has run out the clock on the largest majority he'll have. He achieved more than Trump in legislation and progress, but still not very much.

He's too often taken a centrist approach, probably because of weaklings like Sinema and that other crook from West Virginia whose name escapes me.

But, like Trump when the mid-terms deliver a majority to the opposition, that'll be all they wrote in terms of progressive achievements.

I read something about "why did the Dems completely abandon the path of their most successful President FDR, the last Dem progressive President, and most popular Dem President to then never run a Progressive ever again?"

They did in 1972, against an extremely popular incumbent, and then have used that loss ever since as a prime example as to why they could never do it again, ignoring that since then centrists have lost in 1980, 1984, 1988, 2000, 2004 and 2016.

They abandoned it because they got bought off by corporate interests, and Harry Truman led them down the batshit Cold War path, away from the more harmonious relationship with the socialist and communist world that Roosevelt and Wallace envisaged.

It's basically like asking why did the Republicans abandon the path of Lincoln and Grant etc? The US parties have always been more personality-based cliques rather than ideologically drawn parties of labour versus capital that the rest of the western world developed into through the 20th century.

Anyway, I think we can all agree that Boris Johnson, being a US citizen by birth, coming back to the US and running on a ticket with Trump would be the best outcome for all involved (particularly us, the people of the world).

Biden won't beat anyone other than Trump. The second half of his Presidency will be Congress and the Senate going after Biden. Hunter's everything will be blown up, Biden's capacity will be officially tested. They're going to throw the kitchen sink at him and he doesn't have the strength to go back at them.

Either Harris does that (and loses the smiling VP persona) or somebody else will have to run for President who can.

I just can't see the swing state voters saying no to Fox News and voting for Biden instead of anyone other than Trump on the GOP ticket. The only hope Biden has in that case is if Trump still runs (against the Dems and GOP) because being a Presidential candidate allows the grift to continue. If he's not a nominee, he can't keep the campaign financing money rolling in to him and his family.

The Democrats (and, thereby Americans as a whole) are reaping the whirlwind of the Clinton/Biden/Obama (and Biden Mark II) sell-outs to big business and anti-labour/anti-working class policies

The Republican party is terrible.. So why may Democrats lose to them this year? | Robert Reicb

They're so worried trying to stop the GOP ruining the place more that they don't get around to fixing anything.

And all the GOP want to do is tear down the place for monetary and fundamentalist religious (mostly monetary) gain.

64% of Democrats don't want Biden to run again and no-one seems to want to run against him or at least declare themselves.

Pretty strong message there.

Biden should pretty much announce next year that he got his wish, now time to step aside and let someone younger take the reins as he already is the oldest US President.

Time for a Democratic refresh.

Think elections this year will be very interesting.

Two things.

1) the SCOTUS becoming a far right arm of the nut case Religious-Conservative agenda in the US, may well have re-energised the Democrat & women's vote, so the mid terms are certainly not done & dusted.

2) Most US politicians have been heavily influenced (bought) by 'Corporate interests'. Thus politics have moved to the right in the US. If so many people in the US have been convinced that universal health care is Communism, what hope have the braindead in the US got?

WoW!!!!

Considering the mob who wanted to kill him, it may be a bit hard to see this happening!!! ;)
Was just thinking that Trump supporters maybe have diminished by 2024 and De Santis may be a bit wild so Pence the safe bet?

I am making an early call for Republican nominee - Mike Pence.

A long way to go but I would say one out of Trump, DeSantis or Nikki Haley. She is as conniving and calculating as it gets so if she doesn't go hard at it this time around she certainly will at some point.

Crazy Joe has already fallen asleep on the job, Kamala lies in waiting with wrecking ball in hand, Pelosi, Schumer amd AOC are quite mad. The sad thing is Joe might not make it to Easter health wise! 2021 will be an eventful year in the USA.

I dont see Joe being able to find his way back home form the local Walmart within 6 months.
Much less run for another term!

No way on earth will Biden be president by this time next year, let alone 2024

Sleepy Joe might not make it to 2023 after the thrashing they just received in Virginia...The USA is a sad place, but the tide will turn come the mid terms!..
Lel

Just keep pushing the date out
I have forgotten more about US politcs than you will learn in a lifetime.
And yet the only goldfish memory you have is '' Joe wont make March April May Hannukah Christmas Easter '

I dont see Joe running again

I also struggle to see any major points Harris has brought to attention that says ''Presidential''

I do think VP incumbency might be enough but I also think some might position themselves for a test run

I like Yang but a 3rd party has struggled in America

After reading your post I was wondering how many VP have become President after being a VP.

Of 15 VP's eight succeeded to the office on the death of a president, and four of these were later elected president.

The VP role is pretty minor in the scheme of things, Pence the only thing I can remember is his role in managing Covid. Promises of masks, PPE, vaccines that were mainly lies.

I can only recall a couple of projects that have been handed to Harris and it doesn't seem to be going that well, especially illegal immigration.

John Adams—VP to George Washington, was elected president after Washington retired.

Thomas Jefferson—VP to John Adams, won against Adams in the election of 1800.

Martin van Buren—VP to Andrew Jackson, became president after Jackson retired.

John Tyler—VP to William Henry Harrison, and became president after Tyler's death.

Millard Fillmore—VP to Zachary Taylor, assumed the presidency upon Taylor's death.

Andrew Johnson—VP to Abraham Lincoln, and became president after Lincoln's assassination.

Chester Arthur—VP to James A. Garfield, assumed the presidency upon Garfield's death.

Theodore Roosevelt—VP to William McKinley, became president after McKinley's death, then was elected to a full term.

Calvin Coolidge—VP to Warren G. Harding, became president after Harding's death, then elected to a full term.

Harry Truman—VP to Franklin D. Roosevelt, became president after FDR's death, then elected to a full term.

Lyndon Johnson—VP to John Kennedy that assumed the presidency following Kennedy's death, then elected to a full term.

Richard Nixon—VP to Dwight Eisenhower, and became president eight years later.

Gerald Ford—VP to Richard Nixon after Nixon resigned.

George H.W. Bush—VP to Ronald Reagan and was re-elected after Reagan's limited-term presidency.

Joseph R. Biden- VP to Barack Obama now President-elect after Donald Trump's full-term.
