USA USA Presidential Election 2028 - assuming we're all still alive

To have any chance of winning the next election & to stop the slide of the US into a fascist state, the democrats must become a genuine progressive party and abandon all forms of identity politics. Make the conflict a class one, poor vrs rich, not a straight white male vrs the rest contest.

So, first, pick a white straight religious male charismatic candidate. Develop a few simple messages and repeat them, again and again. Blame everything on the other side and simply ignore your past messaging.

Slogans like this:

America wake up

They are stealing from you

Reject government of billionaires, by billionaires, for billionaires.

Take our country back

We are the future

Honest wages for an honest day’s work

Polices:

Things that sound good, and hopefully many that are good. Heighten wage levels, create a fair workplace federal agency, empower other watch dogs to keep companies in line. Massive tax increases on the rich. Basically, add a little socialism but never say this is what you are doing. You are fighting corruption and stealing by billionaires.

Funding:

Go grass roots, try to obtain as much as you can by grifting off your base. Move away from ads to events, events that the media will cover for free, its news. Make whatever promises you like to the billionaires who fund you, that you will not eat their faces.

Tactics:

As normal blame everything on the other side. But make the certain persons the “enemy”, that are rich because they have been stealing from the people. A few particularly vile billionaires will do, Murdock, Thiel, Musk etc. Get personal, try to get them particularly Trump to react with anger. Stage ambush events, to embarrass them and their candidates. Make your own campaign events as newsworthy as possible, outrageous is good.

Behind the scenes:

Try to mollify the billionaires (not the enemy ones) in background hidden meetings, both by lying about your true intentions and by making the argument that a bigger pie is better for them as well, that getting more of less is bad business.

As for the “rest” that used to be your base, have people like AOC and Obama talk to them. Explain that social justice must apply to all, and they will get their share as well. They are not being kicked out of the tent, but others are being let into the tent.

Agree with basically all of that, it doesn’t even mean you need to throw minorities under the bus, it means you relentlessly hammer home the real war is between the oligarchs/robber barons and the rest.

Current day Dems thought they’d gamed the system with Obama of how they could have a progressive veneer while cosying up to billionaires and donors, and they could act virtuous. Instead they opened a lane for an authoritarian take over, as they were demonstrating how government didn’t work for the people.

There is no way the current Democrat party establishment go for our solution, their idea is seemingly to become like Reagan era Republicans, or MAGA with a smile. Needs a grass roots takeover.

People use terms like socialist, communist and woke to describe what they don't like. Use it back at them. I described the Herald Sun as woke to my conservative father a while ago and he nearly had a break down at the idea. Then he couldn't define what woke was so I kept doing it

Welp, Donald Trump has been inaugurated which means the clock is officially ticking to the next Presidential Election.

Once we get to 2028, this will be the first election in 12 years where the constitution mandates we have a new President as Trump will have finished his second term.

There's a wide and open field of likely candidates on both sides of the aisle, and it's going to be interesting to see who ends up winning the nomination for both parties.

This all assumes, of course, that we survive Trump's second term and the constitution remains in-tact. Republicans are already trying to amend the Constitution to allow Trump a third term in office, after all...

For sure donny won't be alive in 2028 so that's something to look forward too

It’d be nice to have a Nuremberg-style reckoning for every politician who’s profited off war—through stocks, bribes, insider trades, and blood-soaked lobbying dollars. And yeah, the current crop of fascist enablers can take their seat too when (hopefully) their day of reckoning finally comes. The amount of pain these people have caused for profit can’t just be memory-holed. At some point, justice has to mean more than a stern tweet and a shrug.

The fact we still have at least 3 years and 9 and a half months to go is disturbing to put it mildly. There are a few other paths things could do down before then (with various odds of happening depending on your mileage, or combinations of a few): societal collapse, martial law declared, voter suppression/purges (not stalin like purges, yet) get ramped up meaning 2026 and 2028 elections resemble more Hungarian elections than actual democracy, actual progressive candidate for the dems, or MAGA fascist lite with a smile (Gavin Newsom) for the dems

I actually agree, the Democrats need an outsider to do anything significant. Newsom or some other establishment politician won't change anything significant, there will be economic malaise and the Republicans will again ride to power by promising to fix everything and deport all the illegals.

First there is some background on the diabolical debacle of the Citizens United ruling. FMD that court had some peanuts on it. CJ Roberts should be shamed for eternity for what he's helped happen.
But then some hope, this For Our Freedom Amendment thingy. Apparently polling at 70~80% in favor across the political spectrum, and already accepted by many states. Another poll showed money in politics is the number 1 issue after the 2024 election, not immigration or crime. Most interesting is that Repubs seem well into it too.
