Sounds like a great trip.

Hopefully. Been to Florida a few times. Never been to Texas or the Midwest.

Originally I was pushing for us to go from Chicago to Indiana, to Nashville to Atlanta before ending in Orlando but driving in the snow in Chicago was a concern

I wanted to follow the NBA teams. Bulls to Pacers to Hawks, 3 teams with Australia in them. But was overruled for Texas.

Texas is pretty good, our last trip in 2024, 1st time driving, we started in Dallas, drove in order to San Antonio-Houston-New Orleans- Chattanooga- Pidgeon Forge and Nashville, driving allows you to see so much more.

And if you have not heard of them, if you see a Buccees gas station, you have to stop, they are next level.

Yeah, totally agree re driving. We have driven from Vancouver to LA, LA to San Francisco, Orlando to key west via Miami, LA to Vegas.

We also love watching Vlogs and Buccees are all over that when looking at Texas.

Driving 140kms per hour in the left lane is next level. Did a 4000km round trip LA - palm springs - sedona - williams - vegas - san bernadino - santa monica and the freeways are so much better than ours. I cant believe we dont have a fast lane over here in Oz. You have to navigate a ton of amazon trucks ( they are everywhere) Pitstops at Petrol stations are an eye opener as well.
Planning to do a full route 66 drive in a couple of years .

Has anyone driven in Chicago and Indiana during January?

Any snow, are the roads slick and safe to drive on.

Not there but I’m in Toronto and we’ve been pelted by snow the last two winters. If you’ve got winter tires then it’s not problem but the law might be different down there
