I liked Diablo. But it always annoyed me at the same time.
It's a PC game I never seemed to have the time to play but always wanted to. A bit like warcraft now. :(

i too thought it was after the pc game.

if you ever have a spare fortnight there is a free 15 day trial of wow and see what all the fuss is about.

Pretty simple the Cats and always had a bluedog!
Two loves of my life!
Was my nickname at footy.

Plus one more for Candie happy :)

That was partly why I changed it. Most people thought it was after the game, but I have never played it.

After all these years that is the first time I've read your name as "can die happy" as opposed to candy happy. Good english skills from me. Maybe thats why I never became a lawyer :o

Thanks for that Tex. Now I know that I was not alone on that one.

I'm devastated the Rabbi doesn't look like the Simpsons rabbi in real life.

I have been likened to a movie star from quite some time ago.

Uncle Fester.

My first job here in Japan was teaching at a language school. In my first year I received lots of compliments from students in October. (I should say at the same time the World series was going on, and my Canadian boss was right into it). My boss dubbed me Mr October. I changed it to Senor because it sounded better.
Not so interesting.

You know it's off season when.....

Enjoyable thread, especially liked Belisarius and Characterfirst.

Belisarius - better choice of general than Motors or Electric.

Characterfirst - just read Tom Harley's book 'Standing Tall' - a very good read and the themes you talk about come though.

Mine....not enough letters to have InnocentBystander

I've got a thing about Ancient History (especially Egypt) so Bastet & Belisarius have resonated pretty loud with me from the moment I saw each of them.

And liked the fact that the programme previously discussed was effective rather than it being Christian. I appreciate people open enough to apply appropriate methodology regardless of its derivation. I respect faith, but am a complete atheist ..... except where Max Rooke is concerned.

I played wow on and off for 4 years.
I still want to play it as I never gave into it completely like many others. I always felt those who played in big chunks of time got way more out of it than me. But it sucks up too much time.

....digression...again.

For candiehappy - you had me confused for a while and then it clicked, and I knew straight away we'd be mates, cause I was wondering if I'd ever see a flag.

I liked Diablo too cause that was a pretty good game, but seems that was wasted.

As for me, when I joined I was just getting into my current hobby which is birding (sneaking about forests, deserts and rural areas with a pair of binoculars and a camera) so I wanted to combine my new love with my old love. And maculosus is the scientific name for a rainforest bird, the Catbird. I thought of including its picture as my avatar but it would be way too small.

im surprised, you didnt seem the type to play wow.

Maybe I'm not.

My mates knew every spell etc and I never really learnt it all properly. I had a mate living here, and he was on contract to work from home. Was paid $900 per day and it only took him a max of 2 hours per day to get his job done. Guess what he did for about a year straight?

Lucky prick.

cheers mate !! I'm on the wrong side of 50, so it isn't just the losses 89 - 95. The 70's and 80's were pretty ordinary. Then in 2004 when I was at the prelim against Brisbane I really thought we would win and go to the GF, but in the last quarter the experience and bigger bodies of Brisbane took over (the same way our boys have the last few years.) 2009 was just utter relief.

Pretty funny the confusion my user name has caused. Especially as I never pop pills, rarely do more than sniff glue and drink bong water !

Really not recommended if you're going for the anonymous poster approach :D

Mines a slight tweak on this... My nickname is what everybody calls me, never get my actual name.. So whacked an o on the end of my name and then put my footy number :)

Still remain anonymous :D

I sat staring at the screen trying to think of something clever. Nothing happened. So I started thinking about what the name should convey and decided I wanted something mysterious. Then I thought Mysterious would be mysterious and then just changed some of the letters to numbers and now... I kinda wonder why I did that :o

I recon your avatar also adds to the confusion. The picture (which I rather like), looks like Willy Wonka or a 1970s drug lord. :D

Hence the increased likelihood that people's brains will jump from candiehappy, to candyhappy.

fair comment - that is Captain Beefheart, a muso from the late 60's - 70's. Unusual music. Amazingly still alive. Had his own band but good mate ( and former school friend) of Frank Zappa.

Zappa described him as the weirdest guy he knew, which is pretty strong coming from Zappa

What you choose to believe and how you choose to live is entirely your own decision. The "apoplexy" comes when you (or anyone) takes it upon themselves to pressure others to live the same way, irrespective of their own decisions in life. Don't use bigfooty as a soapbox.

Lol. I sense the rising tension in you already LVS. Apoplexy just round the corner? :)

I get what you are saying, and I don't want to derail an excellent thread, but I think I should be able to respond to what you say on this board, and so will do so in the fairest and politest manner I can.

Someone with a worldview - any world view - who is seeking to be consistent with/to that world view, will take elements of it into every sphere of their existence. BF and sport will be no exception. People express all sorts of world views thru their posting on BF. Threads often have reference to all sorts of disciplines and philosophies and how they impact on the Footy World.

I don't mean to be rude, or start a fight, but in this last post you are using BF as a soap box for your particular view - that all faith/religion must be kept private and must not enter the public realm. This is a practical and logical impossibility. It is really just a way of shutting down something you don't want to hear.

Having said that, I am not starting threads "preaching" any faith, and I confine overt discussion re Xianity, philosophy etc to the SRP board. But as I said, people can't divorce their opinions about things from opinion based discussion - which is really what BF is.

We all have to accept that if someones opinion on an issue is influenced by a Xian faith, or atheism, or Islam - whatever, then there will be some of that influence come out in their opinions posted in various threads.

I see you are a pragmatist. ;)
