Changes for Brizzy game (I know it's early!!)

IN: Headland
Haddrill
Murphy
OUT: Dunn (inj)
McPharlin (inj)
Johnson

Johnson unlucky, but no real match up for him in defence v Brisbane, unless Charman is back, which is highly unlikely, Murphy deserves chance up forward with McPharlin out injured. Haddrill straight to FB v Bradshaw, Polak v Brown, Parker v The Sherminator

If Haddrill came in, it would be with a question mark next to his name, and the coaching panel would have to go in with an extra defender on the bench waiting to take his place.

Johnson did nothing wrong yesterday and should be selected in next weeks game.

Johnson should not be omitted. Especially if McPharlin is injured. He can fill the spot at FF with Murphy. Also we shouldn't rush Haddrill back. His ankle has been suspect all year and should be trialled and strengthened through games in the WAFL.

IN:
Headland
Schammer
Murphy

OUT:
Dunn (inj.)
McPharlin (if inj.)

Not sure who else should be omitted. Perhaps Schammer's return can be postponed. An unlucky omission may be either of Grover, McManus or Crowley. Though how could you drop a player after a 3 goal debut. Perhaps Schammer should spend another week in the WAFL or Headland. Though he usually plays well against his old team.

Subi has the bye next week, so Des may find himself sitting on the sidelines if they don't bring him in. Or will he play a game for someone else's reserves?? Is that how they do it?

McManus out as well, while I was only able to watch the first half he had more than his fair share of cringeful moments.
Schammer to come back in.

Macca's clanger count read almost as high as Hase's possession count - that much is true. But he also did a great job shutting down his opponent and did improve in the second half. If only there was a way the game could be played whereby he does his job on his opponent, but doesn't actually have to touch the ball... ;)

Great courageous mark going with the flight in the last quarter too. I reckon he'll get a game again next week.

IN- Murphy, Headland, Gilmore.
OUT- McPharlin, Dunn, McManus.

The match up for Jonathon Brown is a concern but Polak should get first crack. It will be interesting to see what happens when Brown and Carr cross paths since their much publicised battle in the grand final.

For mine.

Ins:
Headland
Gilmore
Murphy

Outs:
Medhurst
Macca

Not sure how Mcpharlin will put up, not much been written on the injury.
If subi didnt have the bye i would have given him another week.
Medhurst didnt doo much on the weekend, he wont be dropped but it would be another wake up the side needs. Might help the side not get complacent. Plus he kicked 9 goals against brissy last year will keep him in

How can anyone talk about dropping M.J. after the fighting well above his weight against Ottens.

I was just about to start a thread prising him as he exceeded even my optimistic expectations playing on one of the leagues marque players and more than holding his own despite a grand total of 5 games under his belt.

He has composure , pace, a great spoil , and a deadly accurate kick and great passion.
M.J. said:
"I think they would have hit the front by one point (if he'd kicked straight) and I would have blamed it on myself. But I looked at his face and he knew he'd missed it, so I decided I'd turn around. It was probably pretty lucky for me."

I'm actually quite cautious of Brisbane. They have Bradshaw, Brown and Merret...Brown is huge and Merret is actually bigger and stronger than Brown so who are we going to put on them. And if any of you say Thornton can take Brown or Merret I'll laugh. Johnson could take him because they can both be moved in and out of the ruck.

Make up your mind, would you drop him or not?

In any case, he won't kick 9 goals this week, he doesn't play out of the square anymore, and can't really be judged on his goal output. He was reasonable on Saturday and has probably had his best year so far.

Other than the forced changes:
In: Headland
Delisted: McManus

Sorry to all Macca lovers, but if he can't play a decent game when his career is on the line like that he should be consigned to the scrap heap.

What I caught of the game on saturday brought back memories. When macca got the ball i'd stop breathing when he coughed it up i'd swear. When he laid a tackle or put his body on the line i cheered.

When he goes I think he will take a small part of what is Fremantle Football Club with him.

I would drop medhurst. CC won't though, and what the match committee does is what matters, not what i think. So he will get a game this week.

Y?

Re Medhurst - I thought he was quite lively in the 2nd quarter & did a couple of good things during the game...certainly not the worst on Saturday, but yeah he'd have to have a good one v Brisbane to be considered for the Sydney away game. BUT remember his effort v brisbane last year...9 goals! He has to play, espicially with no Luke up forward.

Re Johnson - I'm a fan of his but he gave away 2 stupid free kicks against Ottens, & allowed him that mark in the final 3 minutes that could of/should of cost us the game...if Haddrill is fit, he has to go (for now)

Re McManus - I thought he did okay in the role in the backline, sure he made some blunders but I think it was just poor talking around him & a lack of awarenesss, not his skills, which is usually the case. I would be very very surprised if CC dropped him for this week on his performance, CC at the end of the game seemed to sort out a few players on the ground to give a "warm feeling" to...& Macca was one of them.

I think it's more likely that Sandilands and Longmuir will be rotated through the full forward position, and Medhurst may even find himself there for a spell this week to cover for McPharlin.

Murphy has not been among South Freos best for a while now. He still needs to find some confidence and form.

Just a query, how often has Macca played in a back pocket?.

He was playing out of position and yes he did make clangers, but could anyone else have kept a lid on Chapman?.
