I honestly can't see us winning today, too much stacked against us.

Oh, and Ballantyne on a stretcher.

Yes please! The Freo fans go rabid every time he boots a goal. There is not much greater than a silent Freo crowd as Richmond fight their way to victory and you can only hear Tiger fans cheering.

I feel embarrassed for this but had to share, back page of The West Australian yesterday:

With our final chance's gone with some unacceptable losses, mixed with some heart wrenching losses - today is where we will have to bench mark this team and what 2013 could possibly bring us.

The round 11 loss to Freo was ( besides the gold Coast match ) the moment we knew that this team still has serious big stage issues, and struggle against well organized, coached & professional outfits. Today is all about payback for our boys, & especially Damian Hardwick - as last time round, Ross Lyon, Matthew Pavlich & the entire Fremantle team made our entire squad look like a bunch of up & coming boys, trying to be taken serious against men.

Today is all about payback & if the past 10 weeks has made this squad any closer to being men.

Lets screw their season up like they did to our, we owe them one:thumbsu:

I'm looking forward to seeing Helbig get a start today, I hope hemakes the most of his opportunity because I think he can be a good player for us. I also hope O'Hanlon shows something again, he's had a few good cameos as a sub. I'm a bit beyond us winning and losing these days, I'm just looking for improvements from our youngsters. And hopefully Post can actually do something today, would be nice. Clunk a few marks etc etc.

It's a bit sad when your focus becomes all about spoiling.

And you put the loss to Freo and Goldcoast as the "moment we knew that this team still has serious big stage issues, and struggle against well organized, coached & professional outfits". You are putting Gold Coast in this category? Surely you jest.

Richmond did not disgrace themselves in their loss against Freo. It was a close tussel all day and it got away from them on the back of a resurgence by Pav.

Conversely, Richmond did disgrace themselves against Gold Coast, a team no legitimate AFL team should lose against (especially after being so far in front).

Fair call Spoken4, but looking back over Richmond's season it's easy to spot the Freo game as a turning point. We were flying before that, playing some really good footy, but you guys seemed to knock the wind out of our sails. Then the injuries started to hit, and we really struggled.

I know you're excited today, I certainly am, but try keep the ridiculing of Richmond in their own forum to the game day thread and to jovial club banter or you'll probably end up carded. Otherwise go visit Bay 13.

If you want to discuss what you posted feel free to PM me and I'll chat with you about it, otherwise it's just going to start forum drama >.>

We have Post this time. You guys are ****ed. :p

Edit: Didn't read your post but you might wanna check about being sooooo far in front. Can't remember us having more than a 2 goal lead or thereabouts.

More worried than excited, and definately not trying to ridicule.

I rate Richmond and think that a few lapses in games have cost you 2-4 extra wins this year and a definate spot in the 8.

My intent was to simply point out that the loss to Freo was not in the same league as the loss to Gold Coast. Freo have played fairly good football all year, unlike GC. Barring a plague of injuries last year, Freo would have played in consecutive finals after finishing 6th in 2010 and winning an elimination final.

However, I take Stylo's point that the Freo loss was the beginning of a downturn for Richmond.

I'm feeling good about today.. Usually when I feel good we lose and when I feel bad we win.

:/

Well hurry up and suck down a couple of these then... that'll make you feel like death...

I thought he was on topic and spot on, and used the original poster's language. No issues here.

A loss to any team is inexcusable but it's where the team is at currently. We don't have the mature, developed and experienced players that Freo do and it's why you beat us in the wet. Nor do we have the depth that can support missing half the team which is why Gold Coast beat us. I would love for us to have our best 22 playing every single week and not have to worry about players 23-40 but unfortunately that's not how footy works. Richmond are coming from very far back in the race and have turned so much around on and off field but we still have a while to go.

Today isn't about payback, today is about the team
