Not really, no. Precedent can't be used. It is what makes the MRP so farcical.

I actually welcomed the MRP, sold on the notion that there we would get more consistent penalties handed out. Behind the ball episodes would be cleaned up and precedents would be set...After the 1 week Goose got for a head clash on Bolton...I gave up, stupid system...

These days I'm not convinced that there is a MRP that review the games, too many incidents just don't get a look in..
Sticking with the most talked about incident this week "Chicken Wing", On The Couch hi-lighted another chicken wing episode that a viewer had sent in... Rioli on Warnock ..Cyril should have got cited...Didn't get a mention by the commentators..or the special commentator..Seems it's a lottery system, your number is up when the media mention or pick up on an incident...I cringe when Tony Shaw is behind the mike as he will always lag a player in..

Not a comment on these particular incidents as I think both suspensions were reasonably fair. My gripe is with the whole, can't use precedents and the inconsistency that follows. Most legal systems in the world use precedents in their judicial systems in order to ensure consistency in decisions. Can't see how the AFL continues to justify the exclusion of this. Dumbfounding.

Not suprised by the suspensions both got what they deserved.

Don't particulary care if opposition players got this for this, etc, I think the MRP got it pretty much right if our cases are taken in isolation. Will be interesting to see the clubs take, especially on Rich.

Positive - may give Lisle & Beams a chance.

I will go & sit in the corner by myself again. :p

I agree, particularly with the bolded and underlined point. It is the inconsistency that is frustrating. Very commentator driven. Now the media pack has turn on Judd it will be interesting to see the penalty he is given. Four weeks for the "chicken wing" and a year and a half and give back your Brownlow because we said you were a nice guy and it turns out you're not.

The media response of the last day or two has been really interesting. I think they have finally picked up the public sentiment on Judd after deifying him for many years. The media pack has gone from laughing about it (well, Channel 7 anyway), to "this is totally out of character", to now "this is part of a disturbing pattern of behaviour" and heading towards "this bloke is a grub". The high regard with which Judd is held by the media has not matched the public sentiment for some time now.

I am sick of hearing about Judd as a once in a generation player, I would have Ablett Junior, Voss, Hird, Buckley & Bartel ahead of him in a heart beat.

What makes this act even worse is he has bad shoulders himself, surely he would understand the pain and potential damage he could have been doing. He should get 4 weeks but the MRP will give him 2.

It was a good game to watch actually. Players seem to be growing into their roles - Raines really held Little Nicky Dal Dal well (no pun intended). Obviously lacking a match-up for the roomsneak who always seems to pop up when you least expect it (right ladies?), but the there are some good signs in terms of the midfield and defense.

I think both Rich and Merrett are unlucky. It didn't look to me like Rich was trying push Jones in the fence, it was more a 'get out of my way' thing. Has anyone ever been suspended for pushing someone into the fence before? And Merrett for a late push in the back. I thought it was borderline suspension worthy, so again a bit unlucky.

My problem is there are still the jokey headlines "Judd on a wing and a prayer" about a player who deliberately tried to injure a player who couldn't fight back. I can't imagine there was the same kind of amusement about other deliberate attempts to injure in previous years.

Agree, cant exactly remember but wouldn't have thought that when Hall smashed Staker there were headlines with the same level of jolliness to them.
