Would like to see Adams stay in 13, a bit of a stuff you to Daisy, especially if Adams is a 10year player and turns out as good as the club thinks he will be.
12/17 to Dangerfield, or is that wishful thinking :D

Possibly but lets continue tradition and give it a player who is on his way to some form of genuine stardom.
Like Fasolo getting the number 1?
Seriously who on our current list wears the number well. Pendlebury in 10 that's about it. Anybody is replaceable.

A sight I'd love to see is by the time Marley is finished, he'll have played a year with 42 on his back with the blessing of the Millane family.

42 is retired. End of story.

I get that but looking back at the players who have worn say number 17 from Burns to Beams to Frost? Yeh I don't think so. Someone like Broomhead is a worthy successor.

Until Darren's mother her blessing. Hence why I specifically said with the blessing of the Millane family.

It's far from a certainly, but he's the best candidate to carry the number in 20 years (especially if he kicks on as I think he will) and I'd just like to see it happen (with of course the aforementioned blessing).

It's certainly not end of story mate.

I just don't understand why we need to see anyone carry it. Let the legend rest.

So it's not end of story, it's just your opinion?

Personally, I think the Millane legend and what it he means to our club will reach a new generation if a worthy player (IMO Marley) was given the 42. It'll show the new generation that Collingwood is more than shitty cheerleaders, inflated membership tallies and that ridiculous roar shit.

But as I've said all along, it's all up to the family so I've got no idea why you've kicked up a stink. It's an option man, one that's respectful of the Millane family who are still the keepers of 42.

As you say, the Millaine family will ultimately decide if the number may be worn again. I suspect that it will remain retired but I could be wrong. I am more interested in who wears number 5 next year. I have a feeling that it will be someone who is not currently a Collingwood player.

You'd be right, it unlikely to happen next year but I'd love to think it was a possibility in the next few years.

Here is something we can agree on, talented midfielder with a couple of years development under his belt with the 5 on his back ftw.

I still think this is a disgrace.

How the club could give ownership over one of its numbers to the mother of an ex-player is beyond me - respectfully, she is obviously not going to make decisions about that number that are in the best interests of the club or the broader supporter base.

And what does it say to the champions of Collingwood who had even better careers than Millane, but avoided dying while on the playing list? Are we saying that their contribution is less worthy of being honoured with such a retirement?

Disgrace is a bit strong. The decision was made at the time because of the enormous grief everyone felt. It might not have been the best way to honour the man but we can't change that now. Best to leave it alone.

It can be changed now. All that needs to happen is for Eddie McGuire to ask the uniform stewaeds to give the jumper with 42 on it to a collingwood player, just like what they do with other collingwood numbers...

Why exactly is Millane so special that he gets a retired number and the likes of Buckley, Rose, Shaw, Daicos, etc miss out? Plenty in front of Millane if the club was serious about honouring with jumper retirement.

What number does Dangerfield currently wear? Is it free at the moment? Otherwise, 17.

he wears 32, so that could be an issue, for first 2 years wore 19, another issue, then Adelaide retired that number for there 19th man crowd involvement thing.

agree on 17

5 Langdon, 8 Seedsman, 9 Oxley, 17 Martin, 21, Freeman, 25 Scharenberg, 30 Moore, 35 ?, 40 ?, 41 ?, 43 ?

It irks me how many of our players change their jumper numbers. Try and forge a legend yourself.

I quite like seeing guys like Frost owning 45.

It would be a shame to lose things like that by everybody jumping down the order all the time.
