BDobbo, there is no doubt that given your mateship with DC and Ricey, you would have better insight into this rumour, however,
I spent to many nights out with Daniel shouting him jager bombs as he was short of cash.
Just because you were shouting him, doesn't mean that he didn't have the money to repay you, and may have been leaching off you. Also, IF (and I'm not suggesting that the rumour is true) Marcellin were paying him, they might have done what some clubs do, and paid him a lump sum at the end of the year (which would mean that he wouldn't of had much cash during the year, or that he may have been saving for a car or his trip to Perth..)
It's amazing how people can come on and make up false accusations with no basis whatsoever.
I find it hard to believe that there is no basis to this rumour. I probably tend to agree with Scribe and think that it was a comment made when one, or both of them were tanked, and taken out of context, but I wouldn't be surprised if he either did say something similar to what he is being accused of, in jest, or incenuated that the club was looking after him (with $)..
I stand by the fact that the weekend before he had told me that he had signed with West Perth, then was "irrate" that it had gotten out and swore that he hadn't made up his mind and had only been invited to play there..
Either meaning that he didn't want it to get out, or was embellishing on the truth (which he may have done with this rumour)..
As Scribe has informed we were unable to keep two state reps the year before due to $$$ also Chubba is only 27.
If the club lost 2 quality players the year before due to not having any cash, couldn't you argue that that alone WOULD be a reason to pay DC & Rice?? The club probably thought they couldn't afford to lose more quality players. If you had of lost them this year I doubt you would have won 11 games..
So Benny I dont think you will see Marcellin down in B grade this year of for that matter in the near future as the future looks very promising with so many under 19 players coming through.
I agree with you that nothing will probably come of this and Marcellin will more than likely not be playing in B-Grade next year, what I think Benny was trying to say is that if you lost DC and Rice and some the U19's don't develop as quickly as expected, you could be a lot of trouble 06..

The rumour seems fanciful, even if they were being paid, why would they tell people?
And why would they tell players of rival clubs? Asking for trouble.
Seems silly, but people don't just start these rumours, they must be based on some sort of factual event.

Well Guinea I am not very confident on keeping the two guys as i believe they both should see how far they can go. But believe Marcellin is looking very good any team the had 8 under 19 players play this year and the under 19 team won div 1 grand final by 15 goals the future is looking bright. Also having what i believe is one of the best players in A grade to come back in Glen Cox I think we can certainly cover any big losses. But will have to see next yearGuinea said:

I didn't think i could develop as a player at Box Hill when i was 19 so continued to play Marcellin cause playin with your mates is wat its all about...At the beginning of the season i never thought of leaving Marcellin, but as it turned out it has been a successful season for me so i wish to pursue a higher level of football and give it crack now....Big grounds and massive wings might be a good option.

Can confirm that Luke Williams will indeed front up for St Kevins next year, who incidently, will continue to play at the worst ground in amateur football (with apologies to De La).
Let's hope Williams gives a little more than Mr McKee...(who is also playing again)

Speaking of the Nursery, A VAFA premiership player (the most recent flag) admitted to a few St Bernard's player that he was being paid AUD $300 per game...
