I like NOBS. Used to go there as a kid to watch my brother play and listen to Dennis Fogerty's speeches. One day he made this comment about how much he hates St Bernard's (can't be repeated) that floored the assembled throng.

There was one guy in particular whose name I won't mention. He came to my brother's 21st and had a red hot crack at my sister (who was about 15) saying things like "do you know how many kicks in had in the Grand Final?

Never forget NOBS losing the '91 GF. They were so easily the best team that year and came storming home to just miss out. Still reckon that's the best amateur team i've ever seen.

Hope things can pick up for club

Scribe2, not only was that said player (i'm guessing but I can guess who you're referring too) in the best in the '91 GF, but he had 28 disposals in the Prelim against Scotch. Or so he tells me...

Many say '91 tore the heart out of NOBs...not to worry, NOBSPC is here, and with Alphonse (aka Tony Santic) running the show, the sky is the limit.

Also Scribe2- fancy the occasional game with the merry band of NOBs pranksters in the Juggernaut (2nds). We could find a cosy spot on starvation corner (forward flank) for you. Alphonse will hit you every time running off the back flank. We call him the Surgeon he is so precise.

Cameo King,

That speech of Denis Fogarty's .......
Is that the one where he said he hated St Bernards more than he hated cauliflower ?

Re Dennis Fogarty

I was like, in year seven at the time so my memory is tenuous but I remember is went something like this...(insert about 300 expeltives in this by the way)

"Every ****** year my mum serves up this ******garbage for Christmas*****dinner

This went on for about five minutes as he described the food in question, think it was some sort of cake. Then he's let fly with the following...

"AND THERE'S ONLY ONE THING, ONE THING IS THIS ****** ******* WORLD THAT I HATE MORE THAN THAT....."(pointing at the St Bernard's huddle) "AND THAT'S THOSE ******* ******* over there!"

And it was a G Grade game!

Suppose you had to be there.

Sorry just had to quote that.

For the lower grade people out there, any truth to the rumour North Brunswick will have to fold because their reserves team is currently in custody after the terror raids this week?

Don't know if that is politically correct or not. But after the way those ****************s acted outside court yesterday they can burn in hell.

Not sure about North Brunswick but I know ASIO/AFP operatives have infiltrated many of the Muslim dominated sporting clubs in the region.

I agree with you BP, burn in hell.

Take it easy fella's. There are **********heads in all areas of life. It is the minority that cause problems for everyone else. We have to be careful when grouping any people based upon religion, race, creed etc. The vast majority of Muslims are against terrorism.

Correct, but I just hope there's no attack here.

Let's get back to VAFA footy.

How do people think Old Ivanhoe will fare this year.

If Toovey can return from ER, that'll help a fair bit.

Most would agree they were stiff to miss out on promotion last season, but their core (Haros, Stevens, Weddle, etc.) is getting on in years a tad, and I'm concerned about the depth of quality younger players coming through.

Their juniors are pretty pedestrian, and they need to rekindle their Club XVIII. Still, that didn't stop the Bloods in 2005, so I guess there's an exception to most rules.

I expect they'll preform better than De La, somewhere from 6th to 9th.

I would be prepared to have a large wager that De La will stay up next year. They have good depth and are in better shape than when they went up last year. They will scrape together enough wins at home and their good footy culture will ensure they are around 6th-7th mark.

Old Ivanhoe B Grade bullies, straight back down. Not enough runners for A Grade. Class above B Grade but will struggle in top flight. Scribe is right in saying their good players are getting on.

If John Stevens releases the draw string on his shorts, I think they might get a few more years out of him.

If Lowe can string more than 2 games together it will also boost their stocks.

what about Nick The Russian? Will he have enough time to devote an entire season of football to the Hoers or will the dramas of owning the illustrious Boutique Nightclub take its toll?

I see the Russian at Prince a bit. He was saying that he got out of Boutique and is going to open his own place near Clarendon Street McDonalds - Stay tuned.

Surely Stevens will hang'em up. He has got to be pushing 36. Next thing you'll tell me Orchid and Lord will pull on a jumper

Interesting news I heard over the weekend. StBernard's Tim "Hollywood" Harvey has signed with Strathmore in the Essendon District League for big $$$$$$.

Benny MOF on the money again. Big blow to the Snake Pit. Dan Jordan looks likely to join brother Ben in Ballarat, Danny Byrne leaves for Perth this week and with O'Sullivan still in London, they look to have no notable returns. Is it too early to start talk of B Section?

Alphonse

B section is on the cards I feel. Darren Handley will take a swagger of players with him to Old Essendon, the Bernies may struggle to field a 2nd XVIII. Justin Evans will be in the senior leadership group in 2006.

Yes, yes it is.

In fact, given the season is, ooh, 6 months and 9 days away from commencement, I'd say its way too early to start talking of any side being relegated or promoted. A lot can happen re: playing lists in the interim.

Might be best to save that talk for mid June of next year don't you think?
