Another 5:15 pm final scheduled for EP in the 19's.

Total overhaul of the fixture is required next season. Season is too long in every grade, regardless of teams in the grade a final 4 should be adopted.

While the VAFA want to continue to grow the size of competition, surely it's time to put a cap on the number of teams within the association. Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing.

IMO VAFA wanting to reduce number of teams and they have lost Parade, Ivanhoe, Bull Temp, Turtles and now St Johns.
Ive heard from stalwarts of the VAFA that the VAFA want 3 sections only!
Losing Parade Mappa wouldve hurt VAFA big time as they lost very handy finals venue!
Also Parade and Ivanhoe had been in VAFA for 80+ years! Champ or Chump and if they didnt leave I know pretty much first hand some clubs wouldve folded.
Old Yarra wanted to leave 2 years back, have got the cash but womens team didnt want to leave. They have improved and looking at another promotion which they need to be congratulated for. Then they jump up and maybe lose every game as they cannot attract more players, so the snakes and ladders continue. I think if Old Yarra were to leave to Eastern, they would dominate lower grades and attract quality players!

Have you been there this season?
Almost impossible to find your way into Carey Sports Complex #bigbuild

Parking is going to be beyond a nightmare. Organize a bus drop off from your home rooms I reckon

But seeing on their instagram Carey have gone all out to make the day as comfortable as possible for the two games.

Last year, there were seven divisions in the men's sections.
This year there are six.
Have there been any sniffs regarding more departures, or applicants?

Plenty of parking on the Bulleen property and just outside the property. If you travel past the Bulleen Park ovals there are 400 parks that the Big Build workers use during the week. Plenty of illuminated signage with directions.

Less divisions but the 3rds comp has expanded to 6 divisions. Did not impact on finals venues as it was done and dusted before the other grades finals started. But would surely impact on umpiring and ground use. Xavs have 5 x 3rds teams FFS!

Regarding departures and arrivals - St. Johns OC from D2 have joined the SFL. No others that I am aware of. Usual noise around a few others but nothing of any substance.

Just the one departure that I'm aware of (St Johns in D2).

My cap on teams, was more aimed at the total number of teams clubs enter, as opposed to admitting new clubs into the competition. Having a club with xx number of Thirds isn't growing the competition.

Restructuring the allocation of umpires is another thing that needs looking at. Senior mens in all grades need league field, boundary and goal, this could also apply to Prem woman and U/19 Prem. All other grades can use club appointed resources.

AT least they grew a backbone and made them play each other. Still made grand finals

Nope but Google maps show me the entrance is at an intersection with lights and a turn off Bulleen Road. You may struggle with those directions but I think most will be ok
I have been going to Bulleen Park for 40 years and Carey for 35 years.
Heading North from the school belt there is now a new crazy dogleg and a poorly designated blind entrance to Carey Sporting Complex. If you’re lucky you might get into Bulleen Park.
Thoughts and prayers

Yep - familiar with the area and Carey - went to watch a cricket match in February - maze!

ridiculous isn't it? surely there can be an arrangement made between them and some other club in the area to field a thirds side (like the carrum and edithvale 3rds arrangement in southern last season). surely if they're all mates and playing low level footy it doesn't matter what jumper you pull on, e.g. Prahran, who share the same ground and don't have a single thirds team.

What was the arrangements between Carrum and Edithvale to give some better context ?
