Dumbfounded at how a racist remark can draw any other punishment than weeks away form the game. If he has been found not guilty by the VAFA, I’d expect SKOB to sanction the player.

Agree wholeheartedly. It would appear from above posts that the VAFA have the capacity to suspend the player for "abusive or insulting language"

Crikey. Certainly shows up two clubs quite differently doesn’t it.
Loved the way Wesley dealt with the SKOB student last year. Firm, banned, never seen again. Tick.
Will be interesting to see what SKOB hierarchy do here. We can only hope to see some strong leadership.

Nice try . Your not so subtie agenda and anti skob comments would be more helpful if the were accurate.

It was not a skob student but a wesley person who fired the comments towads Jok and he wasnt banned and was seen again. It had akready been established previously on this thread it was a person from Collegians

Any danger of at least some accuracy?

He was a supporter who did racially abuse Tommy Jok....he wrote a letter of apology to St Kevins....and hasn't really been sighted at a game since....
it was an appalling act...but i'm talking about today....and Vince is saying he shouldn't be rubbed out...

Can hippster read the above?

Play on!

There’s some strange people who post in this place, it’s all fake news and I’m Donald Trump, I seriously am.

In other more important news, Brindisi Street is going to be a fantastic facility, heck, even the ground will be bigger!

Give it a rest, you’re living in fairy land, I have no interest in posting because of you and your many aliases. Stick to the TAC Cup thread.
pot, kettle, black. toodle-oo.

it was a disappointing end to the year for the worker bees but an outstanding year in all other respects.

if the club had been offered a top four finish at the start of the year they would have taken it i believe.

coach of the year, hutchy.

Yes- it was a spectator but... so what? Doesnt lessen the impact and the fact remains Collegians did the very thing they ate now outraged about.

Is it not unreasonable to think Collegians people are just as outraged at what their own fan said last year as they are with what the Skob player did on the weekend? Is it not outrageous to think Skob people that were unhappy about what the Collegians fan said last year, are just as unhappy with what their player did on the weekend?

Both individuals were wrong and one example doesn't excuse or minimize the effect of the other. People should be angry about the racism, not which colour jumper the person was wearing at the time they were racist.

Agreed.

At least you have correctly acknowledged it was a Collegians person who did it last year not as skob student as Hippster.

Absolute untruth[/QUOTE]

Touche!!

Was the guy a collegians supporter? Was the guy an ex St Kevin’s Student?
Who knows?? Fact is he was a bad egg who was dealt with swiftly.
I just hope the same happens this time. There is no place in society for racism. And certainly no place on the hallowed fields of VAFA footy for racism. Well done to the SKOB Capt who apologised straight after the game. Let’s hope you are backed up here by your club.
Play on. FTLOTG.

We know-he was a collegians supporter 100% and you represented that he was a skob student-just say you were wrong about who is who and how he was dealt with. Just incredible you would make that allegation and then somehow, when shown to be wrong, downplay it like it doesn't matter.
Breathtaking arrogance.

Flat Footy said he was an ex SKOB student. It was news to me. As per usual you are barking up the wrong tree.
Again..no place in our beautiful game and our beautiful world for racism.
Fingers crossed.

NO barking up the wrong tree...read what mad lion said and it is a fact he was a collegians person who said it and he wasn't banned as you said. You took the chance to try and run your usual agenda. You were rrrrrrrrrrong.

Enough misdirection.

Why do you keep going on about an incident from a year ago when one happened on the weekend and you've said boo about it??

You seem so outraged by the incident last year but won't comment on what punishment the kid from the weekend should receive or what SKOBs should do about it.

It's actually making SKOB's look even worse the way some supporters are carrying on here. Is there an Andrew Bolt subscription down at the club or something?

No misdirection .. just once again trying to get hippster to stop lying and spreading falsehoods.

The weekends incident was unaccsptable and the clubs immediate apology indicates nobody is shying away from anything .

Did we get a final outcome with the SKOB's lad. Surely the opposition team would know by now if he is eligible for this week?

VAFA Racial and Religious Policy Statement
Posted on Thu, 6th September 2018 - Latest News, Featured

The Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) take any vilification matter very seriously and stand by its policy that no player, official or supporter of a member club of the Association shall speak to, or at, or about, any person of any member club of the Association in a manner which abuses, threatens, disparages, vilifies or insults the other person on the basis of that person’s race, gender, religion, physical characteristics, colour, descent, national or ethnic origin or any other personal characteristics.

In accordance with its Racial and Religious Policy, the VAFA was made aware of an alleged breach that occurred during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s Premier Section second semi-final match.

The matter went before an officially constituted Investigation Committee on Wednesday evening.

The findings of which are as follows:

The offending player was suspended for four games and he is required to undergo an educational course regarding racial vilification.

The VAFA also advise that the penalties applied were accepted by all parties involved in the hearing. Crucial to the agreed outcome was that the apology provided at the hearing by the offending player was accepted as a genuine apology by player offended against.

The VAFA has committed to conducting mandatory racial and religious vilification training for all member clubs before June 2019.

The VAFA commends all parties to this matter for the respectful manner in which they approached the hearing and subsequent outcomes, taking into consideration the sensitive nature of the breach.

The VAFA reminds all member clubs and players that comments or commentary made or passed on via social media platforms may be investigated in accordance with the VAFA’s Social Media Policy.
