I don't know if what he is saying is true but East Brighton is definitely the Southern club he is implying will take a few from OB.
The father of an OB premiership player, a well known VAFA person himself, has been appointed coach of the Vampires for 2026 so there is a distinct possibility the son and some of his mates could be enticed across to Hurlingham.

They've built something pretty strong, shaking off southern/MPFNL vultures on the way to two Prem A GF's, two's making finals despite the europe exodus, 19's two Prem flags. Would be bonkers to leave now and miss out on more success, can't see them not being up at the top again next year.

Can't see why anyone would leave , unless going to higher honours

Old Bwighton are now considered the elite in the elite, and the school culture is really high at the moment. I doubt anyone will leave.

Is Sandringham standalone VFL higher honours?
AFL doesn’t treat stand-alone teams with any favour.
Despite all that they will come hard for bayside premiers
Old Braahton, Beaumorris, east Braaahton Vamps

They had their trails during the last few weeks and not many local boys, Mostly from northern

Not so.

It still remains:

Tier 1: Melbourne Grammar, Scotch College, Xavier College and St Kevins
Tier 2: Geelong Grammar, Brighton Grammar, Caulfield Grammar, Haileybury
Tier 3: Geelong College, Carey, Wesley

Caulfield and Haileybury might have entire cohorts on scholarships ranging from badminton to violin but it won't ever change the above

They will be crap for a few years while they get themselves in order. If they finish outside the bottom 4 i'll be surprised. Leaving OB for sandy for a few hundred a game to get slapped around would be a odd choice

Hopefully Sandy survive, however the years post an AFL separation have been dangerous ones for a few clubs.

I think the Saints VFL side will be more attractive to Bayside footballers.

Didn't even think about them. They will need about 10-15 vfl listed players too.

In saying that VFL quality isn't what it used to be due to the 20+ sides in it now.

Genuine question as I'm not really across the hierarchy of APS schools. Is this a class/elitism tier or a football program tier?

Ask Nepo , he's the expert . He can rate the Northern schools as well , watches games all over Melbourne

This was the status tier JJ. Geelong Grammar in a league of it's own to be fair with respect to elitism.

With respect to football, I'd say it is:

Tier 1: Haileybury Caulfield, Brighton
Daylight
The rest, with Xavier and CY (shared) being the only sides in the last 12 years to win one.

Amazingly, prior to the 2014-16 BGS threepeat, those schools didn't go near it. Scholarships and coaches always help.

Thats right, the elite stay elite by targeting talent through their scholarship systems and the chance to have elite coaching.
