A quartet of Under 19s has invigorated the Senior team and will help build a strong future for years to come, says Captain Jack Hart ahead of the Men’s blockbuster Anzac Day clash.

Despite starting the season 0–2, Jack is upbeat about the year and says the group is unwavering in its self belief to play finals.

Against Caulfield last week, just six players from last year’s Round 18 team were on the park.

“I think we've got a good group of young players who are really exciting. They're definitely ready to play seniors as well,’’ Jack says.

The skipper names Louis Hodder, Seb Suarez, Dan Shepherd and Joe Watson as a core group of under 19s who have already impressed at senior level.

In previous years, Jack says, there’s only been one or two youngsters pushing up, but having four means the future is bright.

“That’s nice, it’s a really nice feeling.”

On the ANZAC Day holiday the Senior Men and Reserves will host Williamstown in a special game at Brunswick Street Oval.

The captain says it’s a great occasion to play in front of a big crowd, and he’s proud of the way the club honours the day.

“I don't like the theme of comparing footy to war or anything like that, but I like the message of camaraderie and doing it together,” he tells RedRoyMail.

It’s something Jack will talk to his teammates about before the big match.

On a personal front, Jack is hoping to get through the year injury free and build new leaders amongst the group.

“I want to help someone kind of evolve into the next captain.

“I want us to have success. I think we definitely should be playing finals and pushing in finals as well. A premiership would be bloody nice,’’ he says.
