I'll forever remember going to West Coast coaching clinics as a young bloke. Adam was always the clown, charismatic and actually loved taking the time to have a laugh and run with the kids. I will never forget him and Chicky chipping Daniel Kerr for having nine girlfriends - young innocent me thought nothing of this...


The amount of times I got torn a new one in my first few years of school because I'd insist on getting an Adam Hunter 'footy players mullet' haircut.

I think a lot of us guys that grew up and played footy in that late 90s/early 2000s era of coaching clinics, open trainings with a lot of player access, premierships, individual success and unfortunately major off field issues share what feels like a deep connection to that group without knowing any of them personally. As amazing as it is to see guys like Cuz rebuild his life, it really cuts you to see stories like this.

What a shit week. Especially for the Selwood family. I hope the club are in contact with all of his teammates this morning.

Very sad and a real shock.
Nothing can ease the pain for the family but I do hope it was a medical episode rather than suicide. The profound effect suicide can have on those left adds to the devastation of the loss by itself.
If it is as BZ has mentioned above and it was a heart attack or similar, then I think it is poor form from all media agencies to add the Beyond Blue and Lifeline details below the articles which clearly indicates it was a suicide. They really need to be sure of the facts before adding those references, the family does not need misleading reports if that is the case.

Hunter was coach of the South Bunbury reserves team and had attended training on Tuesday night prior to his death.

He returned home complaining of chest pains and an ambulance was called to the house he shares with his mother.
