Hopefully The Age (or whoever) can hold off for a week or two before writing their ‘Tut Tut Tut’ article, recapping the last 20 years of 2006 era off field issues, framing it with Hunter’s death for some clickbait.
Eliza Reilly has already done a summary of the 2000s issues in an article in The Australian including dragging Mainwaring’s name into it. Scumbag.

Pathetic.

Expect low rent mud slinging from BigFooty - but the papers usually have some grace.

Now we wait I guess, how does that absolute shit stain of a Sports Editor at The West top that?

Putting both the shite timing of the media comments and whether one should never speak ill of the dead to one side, in due course it would be an appropriate move for the club to come out and properly acknowledge they got it horribly, horribly wrong culture wise in the early 2000’s and that senior club leaders (including "Are you taking drugs Ben?" "No I do not John" Woosha), made bad decisions in relation to reigning in drug taking behavior of a group of young men.

Should re-confirm we have learned from bad past mistakes and will (and have been), do everything reasonably necessary to generate a positive and safe work environment (no I not going all lah de dah - for example, unconcerned with Liam boxing on as long as he doesn't get injured).

We either f###ed up completely back then (premiership aside) in not nipping the drugs shite in the bud early on, or we just had horrible luck in scoring a coterie of player that were inherently destined to run off the rails irrespective of what we as a club did.

It's clearly the former and we can hardly go all high and mighty about mud slingers, slinging the mud we created, at us.

Cousins, Chick, Kerr, Hunter etc were pretty much free to do what they wanted as long as we won; and I suspect their families are less concerned now about facts being stated by third parties irrespective of the timing, as compared to wishing the Club hadn't allowed for a player environment, where a significant number of ex players are now effectively cooked.

Getting harder and harder to defend as time goes by and as a passing note, Ken Judge, you may have been an average coach, but gee you were right.

First off condolences Adam hunter was my favourite west coast player when I was younger and this was truly the shittest news to find out today. My point I want to say though is he went to training Tuesday night that's confirmed, he said he felt chest pains then left. Not sure if that part is true or not it's hear say. But I doubt after feeling that you'd go home and just indulge in a meth bender which is what the press are trying to make it out to be.

News Corp newspapers show lack of humanity and respect in their reporting - well, that's as predictable as the sunrise.

Herald Sun just did a hit piece on the culture at WC during that era and the fallout.
I just replied to the reporter and cancelled my membership, gutter journalism!!

That’s all well and good but frankly to pretend there is ‘reflective anger’ by those slinging that mud is complete horse hockey. It’s opportunistic piling on - the likes of Scott Gullan are not stroking their beard, shaking their head, angry about poor Adam Hunter - they know they’ll get more mileage out of his story if they can tie it to the club (same would apply for any club btw). It’s just gross.

From Splinters Woodcock. Police seized Meth and paraphernalia at his home. I am honestly so stunned Cousins managed to make his way through his issues without paying the ultimate price.
