Terrible news. :(
Glad he got to spend his final years watching Geelong dominate the game. The pure joy he showed in the podium in 09 will last forever in my memory.

Lets hope he was tuned in last Friday night. Beating the Pies in a close one hopefully was the last footy he got to see.

Well before my time but all the best Bobby and to your family and friends :thumbsu:

:(:(:(

I'm so glad that we got to give him success in his final years, I hope he got to see us one last time on Friday night.

His love for not just the club, but footy in general, was absolutely infectious and he had such an impact on so many. One of footy's nicest men, and a true absolute legend.

Can't really do him justice in words, but congratulations on a life well lived Bobby, and my condolences to his family.

I hope he gets a send off befitting of how much he meant to everyone.

A huge loss to all of us who loved Bobby but a beautiful feeling to know he was loved by not only Geelong supporters but people from all teams and walks of life.
Vale Bobby

What more can you say?

When I think of the '07 and '09 flags and what they mean to me, I cannot help but smile to think of the even greater joy they must have brought to one of the truly great characters of our football club.

To see him up there on the podium is '09 was incredibly special - a moment I'll never forget.

Vale Bobby indeed. :thumbsu:

Re: RIP Bobby Davis

RIP Bobby. Hopefully the boys do the right thing and smash the tankers in ya honour.

Davis' legacy is his belief inherited from his mentor Reg Hickey that the game should be played, 'as it should be played' with fairness and within the rules and spirit of the game.

In the period from 1949 to 1959 which included all but one of Davis' years as a player when Hickey was coach only 2 Geelong players were suspended from playing by the tribunal (1949 and 1951), the lowest of any club.

1949-59: 225 reports: Least: Geelong 6: Most: Nth Melbourne 35. League average per club 19
1949-59: 119 suspensions: Least Geelong 2: Most Nth Melbourne 18. League average per club 10.

(Davis was one of the six Geelong players reported in the period (1957) but was acquitted.)

RIP to the great man. Having him for a pre game function over here aruond 5 years ago was an honour. Look out Carlton on Friday night.
