Just watched eraserhead at Lido for first time since I watched it on sbs when they used to show cult movies on sat nights in the 90s.
I forgot about the lady in the radiator, very similar style scene to the In dreams scene and club silencio scene

(Between astor and lido I'm gonna try catch screenings of a few more of his flicks over the next month).

Yeah I finally watched it for the first time about a week ago. Was stoned for the second half, yeah that part was quite weird.

That would be really weird to watch stoned lol. Don't know what I was doing watching it as a teenager. I think I was expecting SBS' standard late night movie fare :D

I rewatched Eraserhead recently as well as getting into Helen Reddy’s Angie Baby and (among many other theories) couldn’t help but entertain the imagining of Henry capturing her into the radiator.

a crazy boy with a secret lover
who keeps him satisfied
radiator by your side, Henry baby

radiator lady was a late addition during Eraserhead’s lengthy production so it might sync up with the 1974 #1 hit (Reddy never let known her interpretation either)

funny how that mind preoccupation projects on a film like that, was reading a bit about Freud and Oswald recently and inserted radiator lady interpretations relating to them as well

The greatest film artist of our generation.

Impossible to separate Twin Peaks, The Return, Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive. It wasn't the stories he told it's how he told them, weaving the banal with the mystical, surreal and horrific.

A shame we never got that Netflix project but the body of work he left is enough. Have to re-watch Inland Empire, only seen it once and was very stoned falling asleep briefly and waking up to Laura Dern screaming her head off. Also been meaning to re-watch Twin Peaks The Return, some of my favourite podcasts are Twin Peaks pods that branch our into weird fiction and psychoanalysis (Counter Esperanto and In Our House Now are two in particular that I've listened to more than once). His work invited discussion and meditation which is a hallmark of a great artist.
