For some reason I keep on thinking about the commentators that have provided the sounds to add to the sights of Grand Final Day. This list is by no means complete (all from memory), and I hope people can fill the blanks and correct the errors where necessary.

This is really sad and unexpected news.Dennis Cometti was by far the best football commentator I’ve ever seen.As others have said he had a unique turn of phrase with a wittiness that no other commentator has ever had.And while he was often funny,he never lost sight of the big picture,which is the game itself,something that today’s commentators should take note of.
He had so many funny lines,many of which have been mentioned here already like he crept up behind him like a librarian.One of my favourites was when our own Cameron Cloke dyed his blonde hair to a dark brown colour and Dennis said,’Cloke playing with younger hair’.

He was truly a one of kind.
RIP Dennis.
