I just watched the video above and was much taken by the play of Geelong No 11. I checked the records, and found that it was Bernie Smith. No wonder he won the Brownlow that year! That might be the best Brownlow win ever: Winning one from the back pocket in a Premiership team would take some doing!

I like the way there were hardly any throw-ins, because the overflow crowd sitting around the boundary line just knocked it back and everyone kept going.
