I know just how much of a cliche this is when somebody passes but based on that meeting... he was an absolute gentleman.
Lived to 95, served his nation at war with distinction, starred for the mighty Bombers on the biggest stage with three flags and finished his days at the head of a big, four-generation family.
Many years ago I took my son to a tour of Windy Hill. Jack took us out to the oval and told us many an interesting tale about days gone by.
Definitely someone who will be dearly missed by all Bombers supporters, especially those who were lucky enough to meet him.
A couple of years ago he was interviewed at the season launch (possibly by Sarah) and said something along the lines of "They invite me along because I used to help out around the club you know" with the lower third reading: Jack Jones - triple premiership player
Sounds like he was a top bloke, and blessed with a loving family. Saw the foxtel segment where he went back to his primary school 90 years after starting there. Those kids probably don't realise what great deeds he accomplished.
What an absolute legend! (in a time where that title is thrown around too readily)
E.F.C. is a poorer place for the loss of a great man - never mind the football ability.
R.I.P. Mr Jones.
