Most will remember you for your achievements on the Football Field, but to those fortunate enough to know you we will remember you by your kindness and caring personality, the great booming smile noticeable even behind your ridiculous beard and your amazingly positive attitude towards everything in life.

You will be greatly missed by many.

My thoughts are with your family and friends. x

absolutely ****ed up

had a good chat to him Friday on my way out at the start of the night. it was only 5-10 minutes but you would go a long way to find a guy who was as humble yet vibrant and engaging. Just one of those true "genuine" people you come across. Just seems like a rock to the guts that he is now gone.

dont take life for granted. We all seem to think we are immune, and going to make it to 80 years old and die in our sleep. Life is short, it is a gift, make the most of it because it can be ripped away from you in the blink of an eye.

Oh god. Went out a few hours ago, the phone started buzzing. Got the texts and didnt believe it. Got back online and am just.....dumbfounded. Dont know what to feel. Never personally met John but can honestly say that this news has affected me as if I had just heard the same news of one of my mates. So so so sorry to hear this and just ...dumbfounded.

It's 1 am over here and I've just logged on again before going to bed to read this tragic news.

Words can't describe how shaken and shocked I feel. Devastated.

Deepest condolences to the loved ones and friends of John. He came across as such a likeable and terrific bloke who was doing his best for our team. His teammates and the club staff must feel rocked to their core.

This certainly puts all things in perspective. I hope in time, our club can grow stronger from this tragic moment and that our playing group can become even more galvanised in honour of John's memory, much as gopower described in an earlier post.
