Have just got home from the Show where I have been all day. Got this news as I arrived at the Show and had to go around all day with this playing on my mind. Been a horrible day really. Just gutted.

It's taken all day to muster up some kind of a post.

Of whatever heartache that has come from supporting the Port Adelaide Football Club my whole life, nothing hurts quite as much as losing a member of our football club.

When you grow up idolising anybody who puts on a PAFC jumper they become your heroes. So I thank you John McCarthy for embracing our club and letting us embrace you.

I never thought I could feel so hollow for someone I never knew personally. My thoughts are with the family and friends of John McCarthy and our Port Adelaide Football Club.

R.I.P John McCarthy, a Port Adelaide brother forever.
