This is horrible news.

To me all North supporters feel like family, a difficult time for us all.

We all must fight for our club forever for blokes like Lidge.

RIP

I havent posted about footy for 3 days now. i Just cant

how much was he involved with the football club?

For goodness sake, read the thread from the start, there you will find your answer.

Mark, unfortunately I have to leave straight after the game, as I have a prior commitment, which I am already going to be late for, because I am going to the match, but if they don't understand the reason why I'll be late, well I don't really care. ;)

Well Champ
you will be surely missed, but thanks for the memories and god bless you and your family :)
our thoughts are all with you and our prays
RIP CHAMP

Terrible news. Lidge was the voice of calmness when the relocation seemed like a certainty. He articulated beautifully why the forces of evil were wrong to target our football club. His posts kept me semi sane when all of that crap was going on. Now the NMFC is safe, 32k members and he should be around to sit back and enjoy for years to come. Absolute tragedy.

Three days later.

Why does this still seem so unreal?

It seems every few minutes I think about Shane and then have to mentally remind myself that he is actually gone.

I guess seeing so many posters that have taken his photo as their avatar, or made some reference to him in signature just hammers it home. It still feels so utterly confusing.

It feels like this weekend we simply have to win... a loss would make me feel like a tribute was missed. My emotions will be sky high for the game. And it feels weird being disconnected with everyone in Melbourne, all of us feeling the same thing. If I could I would fly down on Sunday just to be there for the wonderful BigFooty farewell I can guarantee will take place post-match.

Shane gave me some support in a pretty troubling time around the Roosistence and I wish I could return the favour to his family as they try to comprehend this loss. Take care of them guys. And try to find a way to sneak a little Filth Wizard support in there.

I will constantly be thinking of those affected by the loss.

Absolutely shattering news.

RIP Lidge. I hope North can get up and smash the Swans on Sunday.

Finey just gave him a shout out.

I'm glad he did. :thumbsu:

That's just some small recognition for the massive contribution Lidge made to keeping North at North. I'm pretty sure many of us alerted Finey to the tragic loss of a true ledge'.

Deserves every accolade that comes his way, albeit in a retrospective sense, (which seems kind of hollow now.) Wish I could have met the bloke personally and just shook his hand.

Still can't be bothered with the footy stuff.

I'm so sad to hear this. I've only been on BigFooty a couple of weeks but knew about Lidge and his efforts at North. Thinking of his family right now.

The way you guys have responded to this awful news (with the donations and kind words) is so lovely.
