I'm not sure I'm going to be welcome on Thursday anymore after all the stuff that's followed this week's game :(. I'm worried that the presence of a Swans supporter will anger people.

Hey SouthSwans.. don't be too concerned. I bought in my Swannie's bro-in-law in the Social club after the game and as much 'irritating' he got with some of the BF folk, we pretty much are all easy folk around here.

Ironically when the Lidgerwood family were onstage to sing the theme song with Tim Rogers along with Lidge's closest friends, mother nature called my bro-in-law away. :)

Lidge is forever HERE in spirit. I have no doubt he'd welcome any opposition supporter into our board.

Please come if you can. The fact that Lidge was loved and respected by so many footy people from other clubs is what we are hoping to impress upon Shane's family. Unless of course you are really Darren Jolly. (Just kidding).

I wrote the following letter to Inside Football letters contact Jim Main about Lidge and the fact that football clubs don't always acknowledge behind the scenes people.

Dear Jim,

As you know, I have been employed as football analyst/statistician with VFL club Werribee since 2005.

Our alignment this year has changed this year to a partial one with North Melbourne and the support so far from their supports/officials has been excellent.

Kangaroos officials have provided us with nothing but positive feedback about the alignment and but some who not mentioned with regards to the alignment or not moving to the Gold Coast was Shane Lidgerwood.

Shane unfortunately passed away last week at aged just 40 leaving behind four children and a well documented love of the Kangaroos.

I personally never met Shane in person, but we had discussions on a number of issues including the alignment with Werribee and the Gold Coast proposal on the Big Footy website.

It's one thing to acknowledge the likes of North Melbourne president James Brayshaw and other senior board members or figures at that football club, but people in the background like Shane did a lot of under appreciated hard work.

People like Shane and others are the lifeblood of football clubs, regardless of which competition they compete so they deserve some recognition as well as some respect from senior officials.

Regards
Ben Carbonaro

I just heard about the passing of Lidge.Didnt know him personally however his passion and love of his football club goes without question.A very big loss for the NMFC,Bigfooty and more importantly his family.

My sincere condolences to Lidge,s Friend,s and Family

JESUS! I’ve been away for a couple of weeks and I only just noticed the message at the top of the page about a minute’s silence. Terrible loss for North, for the North posters and obviously, most of all, his family and friends. Never met the guy but he seemed like a real footy fan and a real club man. From what I can have gathered over time, when North needed people to stand up he stood. People who stand up when the call goes out are special people. Most don’t do it and many of the rest need to be lead. All that is a side issue though. People loved him and now they’ve lost him. I am sad and I don’t even know him. I can’t imagine how you lot feel let along his family and close friends.

RIP “Lidge”.

Just to let the NM board know.

A lot of the Bay 13 regulars, and some not so regular, will be using Lidge's famous avatar for the remainder of the day as a mark of respect.

We hope that this is OK.

Rip Lidge:(

I am only an occassional visitor to this board but Lidge was one of my favorite non-Bulldogs posters, his electric wit and passion were something to behold.

Rest in Peace Lidge.

I don't like this getting older business, the older I get, the more good people I know, or know of, are no longer with us..

RIP footy fan, family man & respected bloke.

So what did they print Ben?

They printed the following:
Dear Jim,
I have been employed as a football analyst/statistician with VFL club Werribee since 2005 and our alignment this year as changed to a partial one with North Melbourne and so far the Roos' support has been excellent. They have provided us with nothing but positive feedback.

Meanwhile, I wish to refer to the death of North stalwart Shane Lidgerwood, who was just 40 years old of age and left behind four children. He did a lot of under-appreciated work and people like Shane aere the lifeblood of all football clubs.
