Just heard Mark Naley died. Sad news, he was a brilliant player, part of the class of stars of SA footy in the early to mid 1980s.

Loved Nails. Brilliant rover. Srsly great f@%king player.

Probably got overlooked a bit there in the mid-80s with all the hype around Kernahan, Bradley, Platten, Motley & co. Tore up the Vics in '83 in that famous 56 point win at Footy Park.

So glad he got that richly deserved Magarey when he came back to South in '91.

Mark Naley was a very good player but he never really had the impact against Port that he had against some other teams. Mainly because South rarely had enough good players to take advantage of his undoubted skills and early in his career we had the likes of Brian Cunningham, Ray Huppatz and Darrell Cahill then Tim Ginever etc. to match his class.

59 is way to early and his passing is a real shock.
