The annual Big Freeze round is approaching, so it's time for the BF SC competition again.

Here's a link to the FightMND website.

As the 'Big Freeze at the G' (round 13) always falls during the Bye rounds, we always do the comp in the first round after the byes. In 2026, that's Round 17

The rules are simple:

• Make a donation to FightMND or purchase a beanie/socks/etc
• Post proof of your donation/purchase (receipt, photo, whatever works - as long as it has a date/time on it)
• The highest points scorer in round 17 will receive the coveted Freeze MND Champion BF medal!

Absolutely gutted.

Neale gave Melbourne supporters so much joy in the late 90s and early 2000s. Those years felt like the club was genuinely building towards something, and 2000 was a ride I’ll never forget.

But what he did after football puts all of that into perspective. To be given such a devastating diagnosis, live so much longer than expected, and spend that time raising awareness and millions of dollars to fight MND says everything about the bloke.

A great Melbourne person and an unbelievable Australian.

Thing with him was, too, outwardly there was never any wallowing in self-pity, any self-absorption, he just got on with it and tried to turn a horrible diagnosis into a positive for those who'd come after him.
I'm not putting it very eloquently, just always found that in particular incredibly admirable of the bloke

Yep. So positive and never had a negative thing to say. Just accepted it and focused himself on bettering the world for others. The most genuine person you'll ever meet.

There isn’t many people born unto this earth who could carry themselves with such positivity under such horrible circumstances.
Of course I’m in!
This will be the biggest year on record.

Vale Neale, icon across the country. Will be missed dearly. Big Freeze will be very emotional in a couple of weeks, will be a great touch to see so many blue beanies not only at the G but down at the local.

I wasn’t apart of it last year, not going to miss out this year!
