Good bloke.. had some old photos of rob in his playing days. Sent an email to 3aw to try and get them signed.. he rang me (missed the call ) but left voice message with his address to send the stuff to.

Signed everything and wrote me a personal note thanking for the extra photos I sent for him to keep.

He always had an opinion on the game and DGAF if it wasn’t popular

Loved him, what a sad day, condolences to his family, friends, teamates and all those who effected.

Glad he went out on his own terms.

Carlton legend. Premiership player, premiership coach. Loved him as a commentator and scribe.

That was unexpected.



I only met him once, at a function in Perth about 30 years ago (he was a guest speaker) We just ended up standing next to each other and he was very friendly and happy to chat about footy and stuff for about 5 minutes before his talk. I mentioned to him that he had taught my brother in primary school and he said something like “ i hope he’s recovered”.

Seemed like a real one.

Meet him after training in ‘76 at PP, as an 8yr old. My old man had passed away and I remember he took me into the rooms and got Jezza, Doully and Southby to sign my autograph book. Never forgot that night. Vale Legend!
