I think with age Mike didn't convey that well. Reading his article I get the sense more that Wallsy being a country lad, teacher, etc fit more with the image of Fitzroy than of the image of the "rich", "big city" of Carlton.A little bit pissed off with Mike Sheahan in 3AW earlier today on Tony Mocklairs show trying to spin that Walls probably considered himself more of a Fitzroy man than a Carlton man - seriously![]()

RIP 1987 Carlton coach 

Often contesting a mark at centre half foward he would punch the ball back over his headI watched some old Carlton games recently which featured Wallsy and it made me realise how smooth and graceful a mover he was both across the ground and in the air. Supremely talented and tough as nails.
RIP great man, a Carlton legend through and through.
