A little bit pissed off with Mike Sheahan in 3AW earlier today on Tony Mocklairs show trying to spin that Walls probably considered himself more of a Fitzroy man than a Carlton man - seriously šŸ™„
I think with age Mike didn't convey that well. Reading his article I get the sense more that Wallsy being a country lad, teacher, etc fit more with the image of Fitzroy than of the image of the "rich", "big city" of Carlton.

Condolences to all associated with the Carlton Football club on the passing of a legend.
He was our nemesis during the 70's but we admired his high flying playing style.
Royce Hart @ one end and Robert Walls @ the other. Two remarkably similar centre half forwards.
Now that was football !!!!
RIP Champ.

Robert Walls was one of my childhood heroes.

Champion player for the blues. A great finals player especially the 3rd quarter of the ā€˜70 grand final and in the ā€˜72 grand final when he kicked 6 goals.

Blues Premiership coach in ā€˜87 and could have grabbed another one in ā€˜83 with Fitzroy if that close qualifying final against the hawks went the other way.

Set the foundation for the Brisbane dominance in the early 2000’s.

He was a very honest and articulate commentator in the media. I enjoyed his comprehensive storytelling on his football life in his discussions over the years with Rex Hunt, Mike Sheahan and Sam Pang.

Condolences to his family and friends.

RIP Wallsy.

I watched some old Carlton games recently which featured Wallsy and it made me realise how smooth and graceful a mover he was both across the ground and in the air. Supremely talented and tough as nails.
RIP great man, a Carlton legend through and through.
Often contesting a mark at centre half foward he would punch the ball back over his head
He knew our smalls would be waiting.
