Everyone would have their own favorite Warnie memories. Mine was the 2005 ashes in england. Felt like when everyone else in the team except maybe Michael Clarke and Brett Lee were struggling he got even better. He was unplayable and seemed to be even better the harder the series got.
Completely agree, it was the least 'dangerous' Warne considering how close to retirement he was and his shoulder being toast etc. It was more the dogged determination to carry us on his back. He was relentless as you said, every ball for every session for 5 test matches you thought we were a chance. Felt like he could have opened the bowling and then bowled the last one at night and would have been ready to go the next day.Agreed although I don’t think it was the unplayable ‘spin balls round corners’ Warne that he built his reputation on, this was relentless, determined, dogged Warne who would just ask questions ball after ball and only the very best we’re able to cope with it for long enough - Strauss in a couple of innings, Pietersen for a few sessions at a time befor his Oval century, he was amazing that series
Day like today in Pakistan you really appreciate what Warne brought to the team back in the day. Always felt like the next wicket was coming soon.Agreed although I don’t think it was the unplayable ‘spin balls round corners’ Warne that he built his reputation on, this was relentless, determined, dogged Warne who would just ask questions ball after ball and only the very best we’re able to cope with it for long enough - Strauss in a couple of innings, Pietersen for a few sessions at a time befor his Oval century, he was amazing that series
