Played against Elshaug in the 1991 VFA Grand Final when he was coaching Dandenong. Dirty, behind the play sniper. Ask Robert Morris, Werribee half back in that game, about Elshaug's lightning elbow.Originally posted by ant555
Have you ever met Elshaug?? i played with Echuca when he coached there and i would call him a weak guy.

Ask Robert Morris
What needs to be remembered in all of this is that Essendon is indisputedly the dirtiest team in the league. They snipe, they go in with knees, elbows, kidney punches, kicks, the whole box and dice, and all in the image of their coach, a thug as a football and a thug as a coach.
Players like Mark Johnson, Dean Solomon and the Velvet Divetaker are past masters at physically imposing themselves on the opposition in a fashion outside the rules and spirit of the game.
Only last year, Paul Barnard could have broken any number of one of our player's ribs with one of the most crude, despicable acts ever perpetrated on a football field - charging full force into the back of an unsuspecting, unprotected player with his arms in the air. Gary Ablett did it to Robert Dipierdomenico in 1989 and almost killed him.
Back in 1993, Gavin Wanganeen (then an Essendon sniper instead of a Port sniper) broke Darrin Pritchard's leg by jumping on it while he was held down by Essendon players.
And there's countless other incidents of Sheedy-coached filth attacking players outside the rules and outside the codes of decency.
We delivered a bit in the other direction - when we look at it in the cold light of day, none of us will be too proud of the actions of some of our players. But if you listen to the media and the squealing, whining Essendon supporters on internet messageboards, you'd think that Essendon was totally innocent, not only today but throughout the history of this team under Sheedy.
The reality is that they are the worst kind of filth, and anything they get in return is only repaying a debt that is so large, it would take ten years or more of sniping to square the ledger.
Essendon epitomise everything about dirty football. Don't shed any tears for those pricks.
a beautifully written piece and Oh so true!Originally posted by GOALden Hawk
Did the Essendon players actually do anything wrong at all yesterday? Reading some of the garbage on here you would swear the Hawks walked out with crowbars and knives and put about 10 of them in hospital - all while the poor little helpless Essendon players lay there without doing anything.
I think this quote from a messageboard sums it up nicely:

The ironic thing was the brawl aside I didn't think we were that soft the entire game - it was just our first touch was pathetic and our skills appalling, whilst Essendon have a talented outfit that use the ball very well.

I wouldn't complain if they did, afterall thats all the red and black scum deserve anyway. Dirtiest club in the game? Sounds about right just look at the thugs, snipers and wannabe tough guys who have played for the filth over the last twenty years - Merret, Andrews, Terry Daniher, Duckworth, Long, Wanganeen, Young, Wallis, Barnard, Welsh, Mcphee, Johnsons tec.
An easy club to hate, that has always been full of weak pricks.

He'd know more than anyone after the king hit during the quarter time break and your supporters have the nerve to label opposition players as weak.
Turn it up.
