Tete hair pull on Semenyo & Foden stamping an ankle nowhere near the ball

It depends on the original call.


VAR should not touch subjective decisions that can go either way. I expect when VAR calls for an onfield review that the referee can look at the replay and say that's clearly wrong reverse decision.

As soon as multiple playbacks / different angles / slowmo is needed that to me indicate s a poor decision to review on field.

Hair pulls should be straight reds. Moise Kean for Fiorentina has had it happen to him twice this season and both players avoided reds somehow.

Foden's you have seen given but rarely. I'd say a red card is more of an outlier than not giving a red.

Weve had two similar against us in the past few games that havent been penalised.

Couldnt really make out Semenyo from the replay as the commentary was saying it was a foul on O'Reilly so I was concentrating on that.

As always, its the inconsistency that is infuriating to football supporters, and Howard Webb just isnt doing an adequate job at the moment.

There was studs on the ankle but not a lot of force. Foden got a yellow card that could have been a red. But like you said, it wasn't clearly wrong for VAR to recommend a review.

Studs to the achilles with zero intent to play the ball is a pretty stonewall red card I would've thought.

Yet more often than not that type of challenge isnt given red. Not saying thats a good thing, but it would have annoyed me if several of those of challenges against us werent penalised in the past few weeks and this one was. Theres been at least two that I can recall in recent weeks.

All about consistency.
