Imagine if there was a poster than who suggested a var conspiracy in Liverpools favour. Sounds like you agree they would be pretty deluded to do so with you just saying the stats prove otherwise.

If you're going to judge the effectiveness of VAR you look at whether or not the right decisions were made, you look at the times when VAR didn't get involved when they should have, you look at the consistency in how decisions are made.

Simply looking at number of overturned decisions per team is pointless.

Thats all subjective but those stats certainly prove there is no var conspiracy. There wouldn't have been so many overturns if there was and so few in favour.

Somehow Burnley have 1 only had 1 VAR overturn against them while Liverpool had 13 against them.


Arsenal, West Brom & Liverpool each copped 6 subjective overturned decisions against them, the most in the league.


United with the most subjective decisions for (+7).

Still stand by my opinion that if there are lines needed for an offside and it’s not obvious, it should count as a goal. The tech is not good enough to pick out the exact moment when the ball is being played.

Also I think the VAR should be able to advise the on field ref to hand out yellows for clear dives in the box with no contact made. It goes unpunished too much.

Just means that refs aren't making poor on pitch decisions in favour of Burnley as much as they do in favour of Liverpool.

When you consider that it has to be clear and obvious to overturn many bad on pitch decisions it's a real worry that the refs are getting so many wrong.

Questions I have for VAR.

What is the role of the match commander, and how much influence does he have over the decisions made?

Can the VAR official hear TV commentary?

Are slow motion replays used, and is that in line with agreed protocols?

Why do we see lines used in some games, and not others?

Is VAR used in every match, and if it isn't used in a particular match is that information made public.

Why aren't communications between officials made available to independent observers.

There are several instances where the commentator says his opinion then the VAR ref goes against it and the commentator is left dumbfounded. So they must ignore it.

Just remembered that game where the ref (Mason?) Was caught on camera asking what the TV thought before sending a Liverpool player off.

This was before VAR, every of course denied they were reffing games by TV and made some lame excuse for why he mentioned TV at all.

The majority of Liverpool decisions were offside. Why do you bother lying? lol. And why do you bother using ESPN? They're trash.

For instance here is trash:

Incident: Penalty overturn review rejected after Trent Alexander-Arnold had brought down Dominic Calvert-Lewin, 81st minute - AGAINST

There was not a penalty overturn review rejected. VAR asked him to come look at it to make sure he was comfortable with his decision and he stood by it.

I really don't get the point of these league tables for VAR. They're meaningless.

If you've scored an illegal goal, the ref gives it and VAR overturns it you've not been harshly treated. If another side scores a good goal, the ref disallows it and VAR overturns that decision you've not been harshly treated.

The only thing to read from a +/- VAR league table is how many bad decisions you're getting in your favour in the first place. And given VAR should only overturns clear and obvious decisions that means the 50/50's are probably strongly in your favour as well.
