VAR made a mistake when giving the penalty to West Ham that cost ETH his job. Every other club should now sue the PL for loss of potential earnings
Ref was David Coote, according to Liverpool fans hes a United fan (wrong). "CORRUPTION!!!111111111!!"

Well giving the decision that sacked ETH might indicate that he is a United fan

A few weeks ago VAR referred the ref to the monitor for a hair pull on Cucurella. Jack Stephens get a red card for violent conduct.

This morning Rob Jones was referred to the monitor for what looked like an off-the-ball hair pull on Cucurella. He had a look at it a few times then gave David Brooks a yellow card for reckless action and not a red for violent conduct. It came after an earlier off-the-ball incident between the two of them that required Brooks to have treatment, so there was probably some intent.

I'd like to see Howard Webb explain why Brooks didn't get a red.

This one was obvious. Not sure what the hell VAR was doing but in no way could a reasonable person argue that tackle met the threshold required for serious foul play and subsequent red card. It just didn't and was a yellow card offense at the time.

They have improved the graphic for semi-automated VAR, which was my main beef with it. There is better transparency of the decision for coaches and fans.

I think it can be improved further. The technology has to include the moment the ball was kicked, and the other players around the offside line. But we don't get to see a representation of that.

FA system is pretty comprehensive, although it will be expensive to certify and install. 30 100 FPS cameras per stadium dedicated solely to the semi automated offside system. That's serious $$$$$ just there and a certification headache as camera locations will vary from venue to venue.

Typical sports broadcast cameras are 50/60 FPS.

Interesting with their system a ball sensor isn't required (other systems use this method to determine the kick point with 99% accuracy).

It's a tangent to what I said. The technology includes the moment the ball was kicked, and the other players around the offside line. But we don't get to see a representation of that with the current VAR graphic.

That is confirmation of what we all knew at the time from the TV broadcast. VAR screwed up by not showing the ref the angle from behind the goals. De Ligt clearly pulled on Young's shirt but the ref was never allowed to make a judgment on whether that constituted a penalty. They've got one job...

Just catching up on Nations League this morning.

What the actual f was VAR thinking in upholding the Scotland pen v Greece?

McTominay actually slips slightly, steps over the ball, steps on the Greek defenders foot, and get the penalty?

Am I watching an alternate reality here?

Looks like the guy kicked him in the foot. Greek guy was swinging.
Swinging at the ball.

McTominay clearly steps down over the defenders foot well away from the ball, not deliberately but, it’s an awful VAR call not to overturn in my opinion.
Commentator at the time called it real time as a McToninay slip. And it looks even more like that in real time.

doesn't matter if he's swinging at the ball if he doesn't connect.

Usually they only make statements about red cards that should have been rescinded.

I can't remember a statement saying a player should have received a red card by PGMOL..
They haven't made a statement officially. They're just soothing Liverpool moans.

BBC Sport has been told by the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) the tackle met the threshold for serious foul play.

The view of PGMOL is that an on-field review should have been recommended to referee Sam Barrott and ultimately the original decision overturned.

Referee Barrott felt the challenge was reckless in real time and VAR Paul Tierney deemed that call not to be a clear and obvious error.

Liverpool have been contacted by the PGMOL about the matter.
