heard the he was gonna be on but couldn't catch him....

anyone hear what he had too say???

He towed the company line maginficently :)

He got asked if he might go back to WA when his contract is up. He said no but of course that doesn't really mean a lot.

Fitzy called up and I think Roo after him? Apparently those clowns were on a bus tour and rang up to give him a hard time. I didn't hear it all, the last few minutes tho.

He said a lot more than that. He said that he had no intentions of going back to Perth as he was totally happy here. He went on to say that he was happy to stay here as long as Adelaide would have him.

He also said that he would like to captain the Adelaide Footy Club , although modestly stated that there would be a fair bit of competition and named a few (none of which would be).

When the topic of Craig's contract extension was mentioned he said that he was fortunate to have played all of his 4 seasons under Craig, and that the players would be delighted with Craig's extension.

When asked where he thought his game had improved, he said that it was the attacking side of his game. Up until this year Craig had used him on a HB flank and in defensive mid-field roles until Craig was happy that he had perfected these roles.

At the beginning of the season he approached Craig and asked if he could play a more offensive attacking role in the mid-field and the rest is his history. He went on to say that his goal was to be an attacking player who could also play up forward.

Fitzy rang up and was hilarious. VB and BV (Bernie Vince) share a house together, and Fitzy wanted to know who had the greatest number of notches on their bed-head. When VB said neither had any, Fitzy said that if the score was nil-all then it was down to penalty shots to decide it!! :D

Actually, for all the female VB fans out there, he hasn't got a girl-friend - he actually said that he hasn't had one since he's been here - so don't despair - you're still in with a chance. :thumbsu:

As usual VB was the complete package - well spoken while making a heap of sense. Excellent to listen to.

He IS the next captain of the Adelaide footy club, irrespective of when Goody retires. :thumbsu:

I love you VB.

He BLEEDS the AFC.

Brilliant.

I actually told him I loved him when I was paro and saw him at the Jetty Bar. He just smiled.

Love VB. Good little player. Mac, what sort of captain do you see him as somewhere between Goodwin and Roo?

The perfect one to be honest.

A great communicator to the players and sets an example in the courageous and skilful way he plays (Bickley-esque with a touch more skill).

Certainly able to represent the club publicly with his capacity to talk well and intelligently, but with a tinge of humour.

Most importantly, he would be the direct opposite of a reluctant captain - he would embrace it eagerly and it would sit comfortably with him.

He wants to lead. The respect for him is there - others will follow. :thumbsu:

I'm sure some of the fellas around this place will be happy to hear he's a single man as well :D

I reckon the great one will emerge as one of the comps top mids next year. His attacking flair will continue to rise

BV no notches? Yeah, right...

I don't like him. ;)

Yeah, that's when I knew VB was not being totally open about the notches on the bed-head. :)

I don't think there's a man in Adelaide that hasn't had Bernie cut their lunch.

ah.. he used to have a girlfriend from W.A when he was over in adelaide still.. long distance relationship and all.. her name was coby grant.. she's a musician.. i believe if anyone's interested she has a myspace page, haha..

Hot damn! VB shoulda locked that down!

Wouldn't be good if goody suggested next year that VB take over and goody to act as a mentor for a year. He obviously is the outstanding candidate for job he ticks all the boxes and defininetly wants the gig.:cool::cool:

Another reason for the ladies to get onto him.

Macca, what about timing, is he ready to take the role next year ?

My concern, Goody may only have 1 year left, I would like VB elevated to the job prior to Goody's retirement, Goody would provide strong support to a young Captain, it would also allow Goody to focus on enjoying his footy in his final year

I think the club will allow Goody to stay on as skipper for at least next year as I'm sure that was the club's original plan.

The maturity of VB is well beyond his years and IMO he's ready to take on the captaincy whenever it is given to him - be that next year or as more likely is the case (unless Goody retires) in 2010.

Agree here, I'd be giving him the captaincy next year because there is a distinct possibility that come 2010, none of Goodwin, Mcleod or Edwards will be there to guide VB assuming he gets the captaincy. Now thats a huge loss of onfield leadership and experience at the club. I think it'd be ideal if VB could have that year with these 3, assuming they all go on, still there to back him up and offer support, making a much more seamless transition.
