Roast VB

I think this game was the least of those you could accuse him of not doing his job. He kept his man Griffen to 26 touches with negligible impact on the game, after being best afield with 36 and 41 in the previous weeks. It was Cross, Cooney and Liberatore who tore us up.

Lol

I've always been a fan of VB, but I think the pressure of 2013 has cracked him.

An absolute shell of the super hard running, clean, put body on the line player he was at the start of his captaincy.

He wont be traded. Massive preseason, hand the reigns over to Sloane/Danger, he'll bounce back.

Bounce back to what though?

Lyons, Grigg and Kerridge have already surpassed him as footballers.

Play him back and shift Smith into the middle?

Vs 15 touches at 45%.

He's a complete liability.

The decision making of both VB and Thommo is costing us big time. How many goals did WB score from our turnovers? Not that these two were alone in both poor decisions and execution, but they stood out.

Could be captaincy curse of a bad year. takes on board all the pressure etc. I am sure he will bounce back if he is unburdened of the captaincy. That's more wishful thinking though.

The awkward moment when you make a TIC thread about not calling an unfounded number count, turns into a player bash o_O

VB should have hit Minson with a roundhouse off the ball. The ensuing melee would have stopped their run. Plus the 8 weeks he would get would solve our captaincy problem for next year.

C'mon VB step up and take one for the team!!!

He is the master of the foot high handball, the smothered handball, the worm burner due to telegraphing his actions and giving his opponent a few seasons to get into position for the smother. Other tricks include "shackling" his opponents to 26 touches and having no presence at all as a footballer.

It is a marketing nightmare for our captain to be tagging Port Adelaide's heart and soul superstar captain in a Showdown. The last at football park. This is a club with far more in the tank than that, a club that should have far more pride and higher goals in mind than that. It is unarguably proven that figureheads, their identities, continual reiteration of goals - these things that may not seem decisive on first inspection directly impact organisational output. We will get better results by naming a better, more inspirational player as captain. Dangerfield, Sloane, raffle them for captain and vice captain. Both are absolutely outstanding, inspirational men and players, with character and proven records in big games of football. What a pair. What a weapon. What an opportunity to turf VB and this miserable post-98 era the **** out of here.

I want to win finals again and feel like the grand final is possible to get into. "Pride" has been bandied around so much as a marketing term by this club, I want to see some substance behind that word again. And while we're at it, TERRIFIC initiative from a group of passionate supporters to start a rival cheersquad by that name. Our current cheersquad is a piss weak embarrassment. Like a cup of diluted cordial.

New era please.

Hodge, Selwood, McVeigh & Jack, Pavlich top 4 team captains who lead by example = VanBerlo. Argument has been made that it doesn't make any difference, but that is just bollocks.

Bicks while not the flashiest captain at least gave 100% and put his body on the line and could dispose of the ball correctly.
Roo was a giant of the club and the competition. He took players on his back and said follow me.
Goody, while not as good as Roo was an elite player who could turn a game off his own boot.
VB is a good trainer, but that doesn't win you games of footy. Needs to stand down at the end of the season. Then he can be picked on his form not on the fact that he is the captain.

Sloane is my first pick with Danger second.

Not even sure danger should be capt next year now
Why? because he has been playing injured since coming back from his shoulder injury & can't dominate like he usually does...

Sick of all the flack heading VB's way. Yes, he has had a poor year ... but the coaching staff have stuffed him around.

However, his time is up as captain. Time for Danger/Sloane to take over c/vc.

Nah put Van Berlo in the hall of fame. #elite

But seriously, was he dropped on his head over the off season? An average footballer turned worse. Embarrassing that he is our captain when we have a long line of candidates who can actually play the game in the first place. Limited talent.

Should be named as our reveserves captain.. His "leadership" will be handy

Actually on this one I disagree with you CAI - the 'lower' you go the more leadership you need - not a good idea to have him lead the reserves. But I would be interested to know if he could coach them in a limited way... Just a thought.

Is this the group of people responsible for the "Ark Ark" after goals?

Yeah, I don't know. And I don't care. The point is, our fans recognise that the mob installed to do a job is pathetic, and they're trying to do something about it. Kudos to them for throwing a gauntlet down and taking matters into their own hands.

This club should be an irresistible powerhouse. The circumstances for this to be the case are handed to our management. They barely have to do anything. That's how god-awful terrible our decision makers have been at handling our club.

Probably not the best time to spruik Danger either. Had little to no impact. and appeared to be beaten by his direct opponent.

Doesn't matter though. Someones bound to start the thread after every game.

Has had more than 20 touches in only 4 of 17 games (funnily enough the same as MacKay). His highest this season is 23.

61.8% the worst of anyone at the club withe exception of

McKernan, Porps, Walker, Martin and Johncock

It's hard to pick between sloane and Danger isn't it. Danger probably shades Rory on the field (although Sloane is a superstar, and can rip apart a game just as well) while Sloane might be a bit more impressive off it. I really can't pick between them. I wonder if co-captains is an option.

Because the bloke is rubbish, yes. There would be no threads otherwise.
