Hey everyone thought i'd set up a thread for people doing 3/4's next year.

Here are some subjects that people might want assistance with, maybe some people with exp in the subjecy could help.

Geography: What is essential knowledge in 3/4? what are important terms and statistics to know? What are some good resources Internet and others?

Legal Studies: Essential knowledge? What are important skills required for a high mark? Important terms?

Histories: Essential knowledge? Important dates? Tips on writing a good history essay, What are good resources to use?

Economics: Essential Knowledge? What are important skills to have for this subject?

International Studies: Again Essential knowledge? Important skills, what do examiners look for ect...

Would help if anyone could answer these questions, people can add more subjects to this list if they want.

Just re Geography, I found it really challenging, because it doesn't suit the way I learn/write/respond to questions. No essays or anything, just answer with the facts. Even if it's a short, two-line answer, that can be fine. There's a case study you will do on a certain local area, as well as the Murray-Darling Basin. So make sure you get on top of the idea of water in Australia, terminology for it (can't remember it all now, salinity levels, water tables, that sort of stuff). We also did some stuff on world population, and global fishing (each fall under certain categories of required learning on the study design). It got easier as it went on. On the exam, you'll have to be able to map your global phenomenon (in our case, global fishing). That's easy to do, money for jam, as our teacher said. No excuses on that one as it comes up on all the practice exams.

Legal - there's heaps to know, put simply. From memory, the first part is the constitution/structure of Aus government, etc. Too easy. Then it was about the court hierarchy (have to know the order from the highest right down to the divisions of the magistrates court), and then we covered and compared the adversary system and the other one (can't remember it now haha). But yeah, there's a fair bit of content, but I did enjoy it.

I picked it up as a 3/4 and ended up with a 44, so it's not that hard to get a grasp on most of the content providing you do the revision, even though it's a pretty info-heavy subject.

One thing I'd say is that there's a lot of content (as stated above). A lot of it is specific too, so there's not a lot of room for creative thinking.

I also found that most of the topics are fairly distinct from one another, but further on in the year you'll cover a topic about a fair and effective legal system which kinda ties the whole year together.

In short, you'll need to know almost everything. The first few pages of the exam shouldn't be too hard if you've done the work, but it gets pretty difficult towards the end. The ten mark question (where you have to pick one of two questions) could be anything.

Economics: Essential Knowledge? What are important skills to have for this subject?

i would recommend eco for year 12 after completing the 3/4 and 1/2. expect to write alot throughout the sacs and exam. subject takes a good year or two to get a proper grasp of bus man would be a better year 11 subject an info. heavy subject that will get you a good 40 with the required work, or even pyschology for that matter.

I'm doing psych as a 3/4 this year (exam tomorrow..probably should be studying) and I've found it really good. Unit 3 is a lot more interesting and simple compared to unit 4, but it has still been a good subject to do while in year 11.

Next year my subjects are English, Further Maths, Music Solo Performance, Business Management and Media Studies.

Not exactly the subjects you pick to get an incredible enter score, but I'd much rather do subjects I'm interested in, and I'll do better in them than if i followed the methods/physics/lote route.

I'm doing eco 1/2 and I am finding the subject incredibly easy. I don't know if it is the teacher but I find if you pay attention in class keep up to date with topical issues (e.g intrest rates, GFC) and think pretty logically you will do well.
