I haven't watched last night's episode, but have been a bit underwhelmed with this season so far. It still has hilarious moments and I'll watch every episode they put out, but the end of the last season was a perfect way to finish the show. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but it just feels meaner than it did in the past. I mean, they were always insulting each other, but with Selina gearing up to the Presidency, it felt like it had a point. Now that she has seemingly no end goal, the horribleness of all the characters is just cruel. I mean, Gary's party episode was just nasty rather than funny.

On an unrelated note, I watched a best of clip over the weekend and I think I've found my favourite line of the whole show. Furlong is complaining about his aide Will being too slow to go on a run with, but can't think up an insult so gets Will to adlib his own put-down and deadpans: "I move as slowly as a Mississippi detective investigating the murder of a young black man, sir." Hahaha. Kills me every time.

While I'm still really enjoying this season, this is a fair point. It did seem out of place and made me feel a bit uncomfortable. Generally the insults are towards people who deserve it and can take it and give it back. I didn't like seeing Gary genuinely hurt. It was an odd episode for this show.

Selina has become a far nastier character over the course of the show. Even going back to The Thick of It, a lot of the insults come in the form of professional banter because it's mostly political satire. The more Veep pulls back the curtain on Selina as a person though, the more downright miserable watching the show becomes. I love Julia but I'd consider watching a season of Veep without her (since she's not really in office any more, that'd make sense too, although her performance is so commanding and central I understand why they wouldn't do that).

Felt something was a little off throughout the last season but still loved it. Pretty happy with all the choices in the finale; no real surprises but also nothing too obvious.

It all went to crap with her flip flopping...that scene with Ben and then the last scene at her Desk

Jonah all season, whole series...gold

Heaps of cameos hey!

I actually thought this season has been one of the best they've ever done. I didnt enjoy the previous one quite as much, but this seemed like it was right back in the groove again. It probably helped that they could allow all the characters to completely burn bridges without having to worry about where they go next.

The epilogue in the finale was really well done too. Poor Gary. He deserved so much better from her ...

Yes I agree it was better than Season 5. By off, I meant it felt a little different, not quite what I was used to with Veep. But the quality was solid, besides some way too out there Jonah material.

Finally watching season 3 probably five years since watching season 2. Still funny. Jonah having his own website is great. Wish I'd watched this as it aired because 2014 is feeling a little dated given how much has happened since.

Finished season 3. Jonah my favourite character. Liked him having his own little plot through the season. Seems more expansive with more characters doing their own things than I remember seasons 1-2 being.

Season 4 is its peak.

Wat a great show this was

....fiction became reality

Up to season 6 episode 2. Surprised Armando Iannuci left after season 4 because that flows right into season 5 (like season 3 flows into season 4) while season 6 is a vivid shift, at least so far.

I found that as well. Perhaps there was a lot of material left over from Iannuci that was used during S5?

Finished season 6. Dan/"Danny" at CBS was great. Can see why people didn't like the rest so much. Most 'sitcom' season so far; things that would've been background or a one liner before got a lot of attention. If you'd waited a year for it after season 5, the absence of political development besides Congressman Jonah might've underwhelmed, and the very ending could've made it feel like the whole season was a holding pattern.

Finished season 7. God it was a depressing conclusion. Selina really was a piece of shit but her getting the last laugh was sadly fitting for where America finds itself now in 2019. Epilogue was fun and softened the blow at least :P

Last episode title was "Veep" so expected her to be Vice President again.

Just finished this great series.

Underrated highlight for me was the dynamic between Furlong and Will

Yup - their interactions were incredibly funny. I don't know how they didn't get cancelled every time Roger Furlong came on the screen though haha. The funniest one for me is in the finale (I think) where Will tries to make a Furlong-esque quip and he gets slammed, saying "Read the room, Will". Brilliant!

Yeah loved this show, think it's criminally underrated. Jonah had some of the funniest moments (conversely probably some of the unfunniest as well).

Yep, 6 dismal pages for one of the best comedies of all time

And 10 years flies!

I’ve noticed a funny quirk with the actors from this show, where they constantly appear in other things together.

That might sound like a common thing given the ensemble cast, but outside of perhaps only Seinfeld (which isn’t the same given the actors there were in standalone episodes), it’s unprecedented.

I noticed it on a few occasions at first, but it’s at the stage where I’ll be watching something and say “there’s another pairing/group of Veep actors”.

By my estimation, it’d be about 20 times I’ve noticed it.
