It's a Vent thread. It's pretty simple. People come here to vent. It's a place where people come and lose it. It's bizarre that anyone would come to this thread and comment on people venting in the vent thread.Only supporters police around here is you saying Ghost Pig can’t vent about the doomsayers who all pile on after every loss. They piss the absolute shit out of me after every loss, and before any of you start piling on me, it’s not accepting mediocrity to want to support your team through thick and thin. We get you don’t like the coach, good for you, why don’t you run for the board next time a position comes up and do something about it?
Is flagmantle on here?God this club forum is a miserable place to be lately. We win a few and instead of some good energy it feels like the dam wall is just getting higher and higher and the second we lose everyone just comes crashing down with more vehemence, more I told you so's, more hindsight heroism.
If we are who the team are supposed to be playing for then no wonder they falter, putting your body on the line for supporters who opine about being the best fans in the comp, but the only thing we do well is bronx cheer fringe 22 players and erupt into histrionics the second we lose one that everyone had pencilled in as "we better win by 100 or we're not a serious team".
Last week a few of us found out who runs the Flagmantle page and to be quite honest it might as well be any of you on here lately, I'mthis far from hanging my trotters up and just watching Dockers footy with my Mrs and old Petey at work. Much more pleasant than fraternising with you other "supporters".

Should be more because Miers won't play next week while Vlastuin was one of the Tigers best despite having a full face mask and oxygen tank in place of his gps unit. Can predict Voss and Nash will get the same length of suspension.

You call me big nose once more...Speak for yourself, big nose

Your nose is going to be three foot wide across your face mate, when I am finished with youYou call me big nose once more...
For a defensive coach, we have conceded over 100 points twice already this season in losses… that’s pretty dire. Why did Longmuir not understand that Darcy was getting smashed at centre bounce downs and put defensive structures into place?
For a “defensive coach” he’s not that proactive.
It’s a myth that ‘supporting’ means you need to agree with everything the club does and back their decisions blindly…Only supporters police around here is you saying Ghost Pig can’t vent about the doomsayers who all pile on after every loss. That was my exact point, E shed was telling Gpig he can’t vent about other supporters on the vent thread, I said he is the one telling people what they can and can’t do. It’s the F&&&)ing vent thread, have at it!It's a Vent thread. It's pretty simple. People come here to vent. It's a place where people come and lose it. Yes, the cost of trying to score more and move the ball aggressively. The main problem however is our centre clearance rate..For a defensive coach, we have conceded over 100 points twice already this season in losses… that’s pretty dire.
Gpig wasn't simply venting, it wax Gpig basically saying, and I'm paraphrasing, ' I can't believe you lot are venting, you should be better than that, no wonder the players are bad if the supporters are like this' I.e. telling us to stop venting. It was Gpig doing the telling. There's a positivity thread if you want to say 'we should be better as supporters, things aren't as bad as they seem etc.' People are going to writes some pretty crazy stuff in here and it's a space for them to do that without being told they're wrong for doing so.That was my exact point, E shed was telling Gpig he can’t vent about other supporters on the vent thread, I said he is the one telling people what they can and can’t do. Other teams are scoring more and conceding less… whatever he’s doing isn’t working.Yes, the cost of trying to score more and move the ball aggressively. The main problem however is our centre clearance rate..
JLo has always advocated pressure (any coach that doesn't wouldn't win a game in AFL) however it's obvious that we have games where our players seem to come out and don't remember what pressure is.What is no longer connecting with me as a supporter, is the messaging from JLO and the players after nearly every game we lose, which is a variation of the following.
'We didn't play to our identity'
'We didn't play the way we want to'
'Didn't look like us at all' - Luke Ryan on the weekend.
That's the best part of 55 losing games from 113 total coached by Longmuir, who is now into his sixth season.
I don't think it's unreasonable to say, that if you're that far into your coaching career and the players are still struggling to consistently execute the game style... then it either doesn't work or it's too difficult for the players to produce week in week out.
Given what we're seeing already in 2025 is essentially the same excruciating inconsistency the team has produced for all but one season of Longmuir's tenure, even after six games it feels like a extraordinary leap of faith to continue to back him in.
Yes, I am advocating for a coaching change sooner rather than later.
Re: team selection - there isn't much in the pantry to be fairFor a pre season full of promise I'm flat as a tack about our prospects.
We are too nice. Our list is extremely overrated on potential, and our game plan is boring as batshit.
Team selection is a massive Achilles heal too. Seriously, give Banfield a statue at Optus for his work with sick kids, but is it too much to ask that the match committee picks a team with the best chance of winning, rather than rewarding behaviours which do not correlate to winning games of football consistently?
There are alternatives to Banfield - Narkle, Simpson, Erasmus?Re: team selection - there isn't much in the pantry to be fair
Dudley the sub two weeks in a row, for example. We value 'forward pressure' more than goals. Which would be tolerable if we didn't lose the forward tackle count 27-4 or whatever it ended up being.Re: team selection - there isn't much in the pantry to be fair
And even though we supposedly value forward pressure, we are one of the lowest pressure sides in the comp. If Banfield and Switta are being picked for their pressure, then they aren’t doing their job.Dudley the sub two weeks in a row, for example. We value 'forward pressure' more than goals. Guys are routinely picked on 'seniority' and nothing else. Match selection rule number one must be 'we look after our mates'And even though we supposedly value forward pressure, we are one of the lowest pressure sides in the comp.
