It's a Vent thread. It's pretty simple. People come here to vent. It's a place where people come and lose it. It's bizarre that anyone would come to this thread and comment on people venting in the vent thread.

If we are who the team are supposed to be playing for then no wonder they falter, putting your body on the line for supporters who opine about being the best fans in the comp, but the only thing we do well is bronx cheer fringe 22 players and erupt into histrionics the second we lose one that everyone had pencilled in as "we better win by 100 or we're not a serious team".

Last week a few of us found out who runs the Flagmantle page and to be quite honest it might as well be any of you on here lately, I'm 🤏 this far from hanging my trotters up and just watching Dockers footy with my Mrs and old Petey at work. Much more pleasant than fraternising with you other "supporters".

For a defensive coach, we have conceded over 100 points twice already this season in losses… that’s pretty dire.

It’s a myth that ‘supporting’ means you need to agree with everything the club does and back their decisions blindly…

The most passionate supporters on here are the ones willing to call out the clubs mistakes, demand change and hold the club accountable for their mistakes.

It’s not being a bad supporter to demand the club to improve as an organisation - it’s having the clubs best interest at heart.
Blind Freddy can see that in his 6th season, JLo isn’t winning this club a flag.

That was my exact point, E shed was telling Gpig he can’t vent about other supporters on the vent thread, I said he is the one telling people what they can and can’t do. It’s the F&&&)ing vent thread, have at it!

Yes, the cost of trying to score more and move the ball aggressively. The main problem however is our centre clearance rate..

Gpig wasn't simply venting, it wax Gpig basically saying, and I'm paraphrasing, ' I can't believe you lot are venting, you should be better than that, no wonder the players are bad if the supporters are like this' I.e. telling us to stop venting. It was Gpig doing the telling. There's a positivity thread if you want to say 'we should be better as supporters, things aren't as bad as they seem etc.' People are going to writes some pretty crazy stuff in here and it's a space for them to do that without being told they're wrong for doing so.

Other teams are scoring more and conceding less… whatever he’s doing isn’t working.

Agree the clearances are a disaster.. I was hoping Young back would help significantly here. Darcy is cooked and is pretty garbage, hopefully Jackson returns soon to tidy that up as well. I’d get rid of JOM and play a bigger body like Ras or (and everyone will freak out) Brodie to help in this area.
 
What is no longer connecting with me as a supporter, is the messaging from JLO and the players after nearly every game we lose, which is a variation of the following.

'We didn't play to our identity'
'We didn't play the way we want to'
'Didn't look like us at all' - Luke Ryan on the weekend.

That's the best part of 55 losing games from 113 total coached by Longmuir, who is now into his sixth season.

I don't think it's unreasonable to say, that if you're that far into your coaching career and the players are still struggling to consistently execute the game style... then it either doesn't work or it's too difficult for the players to produce week in week out.

Given what we're seeing already in 2025 is essentially the same excruciating inconsistency the team has produced for all but one season of Longmuir's tenure, even after six games it feels like a extraordinary leap of faith to continue to back him in.

Yes, I am advocating for a coaching change sooner rather than later.

JLo has always advocated pressure (any coach that doesn't wouldn't win a game in AFL) however it's obvious that we have games where our players seem to come out and don't remember what pressure is.

The main issue with JLo is his ability to get the players UP for every game, instilling the importance of the game TODAY. The players just are not switched on in a consistent manner week to week, we know what it looks like when they are!
 
There’s a lot of posters in here that want JL to be out first premiership coach because he’s a freo man and an ex player.

Of course it would be great. A feel good story for the ages.
Unfortunately that kinda sentiment doesn’t come into it.

It’s actually quite likely that if anything, JLs playing experience as an unsuccessful player is not helping this performance as a coach.
If JL had played for North Melbourne or western bulldogs for his entire playing career instead of Freo, would he be getting such staunch defence from the same few on here? I doubt it.

The fact he is “one of our own” should have no bearing whatsoever on whether he stays on as coach or not.

We are too nice. Our list is extremely overrated on potential, and our game plan is boring as batshit.

Team selection is a massive Achilles heal too. Seriously, give Banfield a statue at Optus for his work with sick kids, but is it too much to ask that the match committee picks a team with the best chance of winning, rather than rewarding behaviours which do not correlate to winning games of football consistently?

Dudley the sub two weeks in a row, for example. We value 'forward pressure' more than goals. Which would be tolerable if we didn't lose the forward tackle count 27-4 or whatever it ended up being.

And even though we supposedly value forward pressure, we are one of the lowest pressure sides in the comp. If Banfield and Switta are being picked for their pressure, then they aren’t doing their job.

Guys are routinely picked on 'seniority' and nothing else. Match selection rule number one must be 'we look after our mates'
