I may be in the minority, but I agree with him on this. Once he's back fit, just give Jackson the keys, he's the man. Darcy got bullied on the weekend, was horrific to watch.
Dude seriously, he's underdone and you know that. Darcy has been a major reason we have beaten the Dees in the past.
Did you actually expect Darcy to compete for 4 quarters against Gawn? He was off the ground for 35 minutes.

He’s just injury prone… realistically how many games a season do you see him playing?
Up until last week Jackson hadn’t missed a game since he arrived. He’s simply the more reliable option.
Jackson was huge against Gawn last year.

Its not the point about last year, Jackson was not available against Melbourne. Would you rather Reidy played?
We are a better side with a fully fit Darcy and bar injury he will get there in the next 3 weeks. Jackson will be back and every one will be happy :)

I'm now convinced that our list build has been compromised almost to the point of failure due to the imbalance between talent and experience.

Any time we achieve anything at the moment it's in spite of our youth and lack of experience. We have all the talent in the world but no experienced leaders who can drag the kids through the lapses in concentration. Our leaders go out there and say we aren't playing like ourselves when they're the ones that are meant to make sure the team do play the brand they've all bought into.

They're too inexperienced to do their job - no one has more than 200 games in our available B23 (and arguably in our absolute B23 with everyone available) - and JL is going to get sacked before they graduate into being capable. Then we're set back another year or two as they all learn a new system, then we might see some success.

The difference having Mundy out there made was enormous. Imagine if Pendles or Danger were running around guiding our young stars. Jamie Elliot or Gunston in the fwd line - players who earn their spot and play the role of on-field coach.

I recognise that this is the malaise that comes with rounding the bottom of the freo supporter triangle but this also feels too true to me to ignore. I'm not trying to blame our list managers either tbh, I don't know if we ever had the experience at the right age to properly transition our list in line with our stated goals.

I still think we can be very successful with these players but it won't be for another 3 years minimum and that means a new coach and another period of regression.

I get the feeling that is the role they had penciled in for Fyfe and Sonny, but we can't keep them on the park.

Maybe this is irrational so I’m going to reserve this for the vent thread but some of the PR coming out of the club this week has been ridiculous

Oh JL is getting some deserved criticism for continued underperformance? Well here’s a video of him raising his voice! Not so timid now is he?

And noted club mouthpiece Ryan Daniels telling us why we should be on our hands and knees for JL, yeah who cares about 6 years of mediocre results and inconsistency, we beat Adelaide at home!

Reeks of insecurity and I long for the day this club stops talking and starts doing

If they actually stopped talking you'd be ranting about that too..

Yep, spot on. I'd like to see them put a few good weeks together before Daniels and the ilk start sing the clubs praises.. one good result means nothing. We need to see consistency over a sustained period before we start hyping these guys up... they've acheived nothing yet.

It is a massive pity, that Fyfe and Walters are not playing at the moment and helping with it.

It would be very hard for us to bring in an experienced played that could both bring in the experience we need, and improve our on field performance.

Ideally you are looking for a 29 to 31 year old, in a side that is rebuilding. He needs to be good enough to be in our top 15 players, and fill a need. He is also needs to bring leadership, and the ability to help us win close games.

We do need to improve this side of things as a fan base.
I need to reach out to the St Pauli ultras to come teach our cheersquad a few things, FC St Pauli are pretty much everything FFC should stand for as a club.

Liam Baker. A need identified early last year but didn't come about.

Instead, we got Murphy Reid.
The difference between starting the 2025 season 6-1 and 4-3 is missing out on Reid. Does anyone here prefer that?

The eagles gave up more for Baker, than Geelong gave up for Smith.

Effectively, the Cats gave up picks 17 and 38 in exchange for Smith and pick 45

The question is are we willing to be absolute pricks, to bring in players from other clubs.

Because if we are, the most Baker should have cost is a 2nd round pick.

Baker ain't that good.. that's become clear this season already.

Never said he was. But that extra experience and on field leadership could've changed the outcome of the two close games against Sydney and Melbourne - that's why we went after him in the first place.

I do think it's fairly hard in a stadium like Optus, but gee the Adelaide cheer squad did a great job when they kicked their first goal.

Just need buy in from everyone, which is really the squads job to generate (and going by what some on here who sit close to them are saying they do the opposite).

I'd take a whole stadium rendition of TNT in the 4th quarter at this point

Mate, there is no way Liam Baker changes those two results... it was coaching that lost those games.

My knowledge of St Pauli is the Reeperbahn, which is sex shows, drunkenness and general debauchery. So I'm with you 100%.

Yeah whatever, I couldn't give a toss about Baker.

However the Melbourne loss, the collective poor effort by the players was not a result of coaching. No coach goes out there and says "Do not go within 2m of your opponent".

The Sydney game was poor execution at critical stages, even the players have acknowledged that.

Keep trumpeting though..

Poor effort from the players is absolutely on the coach… if he can’t get his players properly prepared for a game when blind Freddy could see Melbourne were going to come out all guns blazing , then that’s on him.

Fortunately we have a chance to show we have learned from that disaster this Friday night. Saint Kilda will be just as motivated as Melbourne were so it's on Freo to now show they have what it takes to improve their performance when the heat is on.

If not we are probably consigned to another season in the AFL doldrums.
